I see people talk about "red-chip" games and "yellow-chip" games. Are there standard denominations for each color chip? What are they?

pudley,

We shouldn't use colors since people from all over the world read this forum. In Los Angeles, a yellow chip is worth $5 and is used in 10/20 to 20/40 limits. In Las Vegas and I believe on the East Coast (Foxwoods, Atlantic City), red chips are $5.

In Los Angeles:

Red clay = 25 cents

Peach clay = 50 cents

Blue = $1

Green = $2

Teal/aqua = $3 (sometimes these are called gold)

Yellow = $5

Brown = $10

Black = $20

Purple = $25

White = $100

Rick

Vegas, MI, MS, and LA seem to use a standard for chip colors.

white = $1

red = $5

green = $25

black = $100

pink = $500

I am sure ther are other colored chips for high rollers.

Some places use $2 yellow chips in the higher low limit games like 4-8, 6-12, and 8-16. Most places, other than apparently Los Angeles use $5 red chips. So the yellow chip games are slightly higher than the games played with $1 chips, and not quite as high as those played with red $5 chips.

Good luck,

Play well,
