I have several Royal decks. While they are great to shuffle, we have been having a problem with using them, to the point of no longer using them and going back to Bicycle paper decks.

The static cling that develops- at least that is what seems to be the problem- caused us to often deal out incorrectly, giving extra cards to players.
I tried wiping off a deck to see if improved things but it did not.

could this be a problem caused by my cheap roll of felt on the table- which is getting very nappy?

Has anyone had this problem with Kem cards?

what do you feel is the best way to deal with this happening during a game- declare misdeal, or take the entire hand from the person if unseen and give 2 new cards?

what if he looked- expose them to everyone and deal new cards or is it a misdeal instead?

Ever try wiping your table and cards down with dryer sheets? It reduces static/static cling.....

Kem cards are made of cellulose acetate, a completely different material than the Royals.

Kem might cost 4 times as much, but if they weren't cost effective you'd better beleive the cardrooms wouldn't be using them. Do yourself a favor & spend the $20.

I agree. Kem cards are very good.

Where can you get poker-sized decks of Kems? I have only seen the bridge-sized decks.

They can easilly be found by searching the internet. See, e.g., here (http://www.casinosupply.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=Arrow). (Just a pointer, not a reccomendation, though they seem reputable and are frequently mentioned on this site.) If you need to find a B&M store selling them, you'll likely pay list price of around $25 for a 2 deck set-up. Also, many merchants on E-bay sell new and/or card room used set-ups. You may be suprised that many poker rooms use the bridge size cards. At least one advantage of using the poker size is that the cheap $.25 cut cards that many places also sell fit the bottom of the deck; there is a bottom cover card for the bridge size, but it is a buck or two each, if only because it is less common.

It could concievably be the last deck(s) of cards you buy. I may pick up another set-up just to see new backs and/or switch to the super index.

Actually, you want the KEM bridge size decks. They are the size used at the all the casinos.

Poker size, the size used at blackjack tables, are wider than the bridge size used at the poker tables.

You should be able to get a new 2 deck set for 19.95.

Like the guys said, poker rooms use bridge size cards.

The Kem website (http://www.kem-cards.com/) has a dealer locator that should find you someone reputable.
