Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you're getting the right odds to raise here. You're getting about 3:1 overall to hit an A or a K by the river, and your raise was giving you 4.5:1 odds if I read the pot correctly. I also think you're getting the right odds to spike a pair on the river as well if the K didn't hit the turn, something like 8:1. Good thing no on hit a flush!

Raising from the BB when you could see the flop for free is a sign of real strength. So when a rags board hits aggressive SB opponents might bet into you because unless you have a pocket pair, the flop missed you. I like the raise in this situation on the flop. You make it expensive for the flush draws (luckily there weren't any) and you stay in control of the hand.

On another note, does anyone else check w/ AKo in the BB?
In my experience raising doesn't usually drive out anyone who has already put in one bet. I think I raise here about half the time and check half the time depending on the table/opponents.
