Haven't looked at the links, but your post title reminded me of perhaps the funniest line I have ever heard in movies: Inspector Clousseau wants to pet a man's dog and asks, "Does your dog bit?" The man says, "No." He reaches to pet the dog and the dog turns vicious, almost taking his hand off. "I though you said your dog does not bite," says Clousseau. "That is not my dog," says the man.

Steve Martin is apparently going to play Inspector Clousseau in a remake of one of the Pink Panther movies. I like Martin a lot, but he will have big shoes to fill in those left vacant by Peter Sellers.

I loved the Pink Panther movies! And you are right that Martin will have some big shoes to fill. Perhaps he will do a slightly different tack to the inspector's quirkiness.
