After some organization here on this forum by Joe Tall, JTG51 and I set out for Foxwoods on Saturday, arriving at "the wonder of it all" around noon. While we were on our way, Joe Tall called and told us the place was a mad house. We had him put our initials on the lists we wanted about 1/2 hour before we arrived.

The poker room was an absolute zoo! We found CrackerZack in the keyhole area trying to get into the new 5-10 game they had started. They had already called JTG's name. They were placed back at the top of the list and we had to wait a little longer. In the poker room were Zack's GF, MaxPower, and Joe Tall already seated in the 5-10 game next to the board. Mosch soon showed up, but not until after most of us were in our respective games of choice. I bought $200 for the 4-8 game and waited another 45 minutes before I finally got in a game.

Before getting into the game, I managed to watch an interesting hand between Joe Tall and another player. If I mess up the action Joe, please let me know. /images/graemlins/grin.gif It was 5-10 w/kill. The kill was on the button, Joe was in MP with KK. He raises, the button 3-bet, he re-raises, button calls. Heads up to a flop of KQ3r. Joe bets, button calls. As the turn was being dealt, Joe bets in the dark. Turn was a blank. The button gets both confused and angred and raises, Joe 3-bets, button calls. River was a blank, Joe bets, button calls, Joe's hand was good as the button had AQ.

Onto my game. The 4-8 was BEAUTIFUL! It was your usual suspects of weak/loose, and some crazies. 2 hands of note, and boy were they fun /images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Hand #1: I am in the BB with 72s /images/graemlins/smirk.gif. 2 callers to Crazy Asian Guy who raises. He was raising with any 2 cards the "Good Lord" put in the deck. Folded to me and I say out loud as I call: "he's gonna hate me for this one". Flop was K72r /images/graemlins/grin.gif. Oh happy day! I check knowing that my buddy was gonna bet and I could CR. Instead, Grumpy Old Guy bets, CAG raises, and I verbally thank him and 3-bet. GOG call and CAG call. 3 to the turn for a blank. I bet, old guy calls, CAG folds in disgust. River was a blank, I bet, GOG calls and turns over K5o. I say "no good, 7up!" and turn over my 7's up. CAG said he had a Kxs and my flush draw was dead. Oh well. He also went on complaining about my call. A lady next to me told me he said something stupid and I say out loud "thats ok, I'm stacking his chips!". I learned that one here.

Hand #2: I'm in the BB with J6d. 6 callers and I get a free look at T83d. The deck has hit me once again. I decide that slowplaying in this game is a mistake and bet out. 4 callers to the turn of Ah. I bet again, 2 callers to the river of 3c. I decide that if someone had a set or 2 pair, I might have heard by now. I bet, both call, and my hand was good.

After my successful 3 1/2 hour session, I decide to get up and try to make dinner plans. Those were impossible as the whole casino was even busier now than before. We decide to eat at the grill next to the poker room. We all then spent another hour or so shooting the breeze about poker, golf, video games, and other things. After dinner, JTG and I leave so I can get home to watch my beloved Cowboys lose /images/graemlins/frown.gif.

I had an absolutely great time. This was the first time I could meet up with others in a somewhat organized fashion. Sorry we missed FossilMan, MGinNJ, and Fred G Sanford. Maybe next time. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

We'll have to do this again really soon, maybe next time, the wife will go Zack!

Too bad I missed out on a good time.

I did not have it in me to drive 5 hours to wait 1 hour to play poker when I can drive one hour and player poker with hardly any wait. Fred called Friday and asked if I wanted to go to AC Friday instead.

Glad you had a good time, too bad I missed out.

You got the action perfect. However, you may not have heard him ask the dealer "What the hell is that?" and the dealer said, "It's a bet, it's good." when I bet in the dark. Then he looked at me and said, "What the fcuk is that? Dude?" and I shrugged my shoulders and said, "A bet?". He then said, "Whatever!" all pissed off and re-raised. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

As for the 72s hand...JTG's reverse-schooling of this Home Game members seems to be working. /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Nice session and it was good seeing you down at the Fox.

Peace,
Joe Tall

Sorry I missed out. I was kinda there on Saturday. I played Friday night until 4am Saturday in the 50-100 OE game. I guess you could say I got there early, and then got tired of waiting for you guys to show up.

Later, Greg Raymer (FossilMan)

I don't blame you. Next time you are up, let us know. JTG and I were discussing a pilgrimage to AC soon. I'd like to stay at the Borg this time since I've stayed at the Taj twice. It all depends on if the Mrs lets me. /images/graemlins/grin.gif I'll let you know if such a trip happens.

I caught a little heat for this play. /images/graemlins/grin.gif Needless to say I'll probably never do it again. But like I said, it was fun!

I'm trying to work out a trip to AC soon as well. Let me know as you start to work out your plans.

Sorry, really sorry I missed the meet. The Bellagio 15/30 was good to me, but the 20/40 at the Mirage was not. Something about 3 3-outers river beats in 1/2 hour...

Don't let them tell you that. I was 2 for 2 that day with 62s. And I lost out on 60 bucks on the first one. meh.

It was a great time. Before dinner the deck hit me in the face. It was getting painful it was hitting me so hard. JTG saw it, yet chose to get involved and I rivered him in a HUGE pot. After dinner the deck didn't like me so much, and I got tired and sloppy. Oh well, still fun. We'll be down in AC at some point. Barry, when you make the trip, stay at the Borgata. Someone mentioned to me that the room rate is 125 but if you play 5+ hours at 10-20 or above each day, they make it 39. Not sure if this is their rule or not but it happened to me last time I was there, so my lone experience supports it.

Sorry I skipped out without saying good bye mosch. The GF wasn't happy and Max was storming off to the cage. He said he came back and said bye, sorry for missing you.

Great time as always,
Zack

It was fun seeing you guys, and I even had the pleasure of playing with CrackerZack at a 10/20 table which was, at times, completely and totally insane. (and not just because some CT friends of mine had provided me with fine smokeables)

I went from $800->$200 on that table, and the only semi-legitimate beat was when there was four-way action while I held AK, my three opponants were ALL all-in by the second flop bet. Board came AK7JJ and I got taken down by an all-in AJ. This table... was completely insane.

Fortunately for me I tilted and was dealt 9 /images/graemlins/heart.gif 2 /images/graemlins/heart.gif, and I pumped it, took down a nice pot, and remembered how much I prefer to win with actual cards, and I started to occasionally play good poker, and managed to get square plus a bit.

I had some great non-poker action too... I decided to lose $100 playing let it ride, and accidentally turned it into $1800 instead. With my newfound funds in my pocket I wandered up to the high-limit casino (the stargazer casino) just to see what it was. I was informed that it was a $200 min bet facility that offered only table games. I decided to be stupid, and have a very short blackjack session. I went on a losing tear, recovered, got $200 up and quit. Who said that money management strategies don't work? /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Overall, I had a great time in CT. The only disappointment was that I didn't get to play with more 2+2ers, and that our 2+2 dinner was 45 minutes at a snack bar because of the insane crowds. It would've been nice to go to that steakhouse and actually get to listen to y'all talk about poker and golf and such for a bit longer.

No need to apologize, man. I knew you were concerned about your lady's happiness. My girl would never have lasted that long in a poker room so I have to give her credit. If I want to play poker for more than four hours I either need to be solo or I need to win enough to cover some time at the spa /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I cant believe that JTG will travel outside of FW for Poker. I once even promised him a free dinner in AC.

Would love to see y'all in AC.

Are you implying that you've since withdrawn the offer? I still plan on collecting. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Wait a second you two! Being the transportation for this expedition, I'd expect at least an appetizer! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Geez JTG, transportation, meal, how could you say no to this trip?

You seem to frequently be transportation. Does JTG somehow live in connecticut without a car? Is that possible? Is that legal in that state?

MaxPower

Yes, I had a great time as well even though I was not hit in the face by the deck (I was kicked in the family jewels).

I'm up for an AC trip soon. I vote for a 2+2 golf outing in the spring.

Actually the only reason I'm responding here is to get that "What's wrong with the SS forum?" post off the top of the page. C'mon guys let's put that one to bed.

Seriously though, nice seeing you guys again and meeting JoeU and Mosch for the first time.

JTG, does Kevin play golf? You know I'm in if we go there. I'm working on getting the boss to agree on the trip now. You can help the situation tomorrow. I'll tell her to make cookies.

I'm planning on being in AC on the weekend of the 24th. I've talked to MG in NJ, and he said he'd be there as well. This may be too soon after the last 2+2 meetup, but I'm going to be there, regardless, so if that weekend works for others, I'd like to meet some of you guys.

My promise of dinner had a zero not negative expectation. It was an offer where I could never lose any money.

Not really. To sum it up quickly, remember when you told me you couldn't go to Foxwoods a few weekends back because your car gave you a bad beat? Well, my car gave me a much, much worse beat recently.
