i normally play a $2/$5 game ($5 max bet in colorado) which means 1 blind of $2 and $5 max all betting rounds.

if i were to go to vegas what would be a good game for me 3/6, 5/10, 6/12? starting bankrolls for these games? which casinos to play at? i used to just play craps in vegas, but next time i go (who knows when) i'd like to play some hold em. i play tight/aggressive, but i play for fun, so i'm not looking to make a shitload of money.

suggestions from low limit regulars?

I've got my next trip (3 nights) scheduled in mid-july and I haven't been to Vegas in quite some time.

Here's what I plan on doing.

First night I am going to plan on spending the majority of the evening at the 3/6 in the Mirage. I hope to get loose and enjoy myself, as I, like yourself am not looking to make the mortgage payment just play solid and hopefully get some cards and grind out a BB or 2 an hour. If I can leave there after a 4-5 hour session up $25 or 30 I'll be happy. From there I plan on heading over to the Flamingo which is next door to where we are staying at Bally's.

Flamingo has 4/8 HE, which I've heard is pretty soft. I'd like to play that for a few more hours depending on how tired I get.

The next night I'd like to start at the 4/8 at the Luxor, which I've also heard is a pretty soft game.

From there I'd like to go the excalibur and play some of the 2/6 HE they have going on there for kicks. Probably won't stay there long - just hope that I get sat at a table with some touristy types willing to gamble a little. :-)

I want to get a few hands in at the Bellagio and maybe even try to play Binion's just for the hell of it - but don't know if I'm going to have enough time. The wife will be with me so I'll have to do that "stuff" during the day and early evenings and get my poker in at 10pm on.

We'll see how it goes.

I'd check out www.cheapovegas.com (http://www.cheapovegas.com) - they have a good listing of strip/non-strip casino's their rating of the resorts and most importantly which have poker. They tell you how many tables, quality of the room, table limits and quality of players - although the latter I'm not sure I'd take their word for 100% - you never know who's going to be at the table with you. :-)

I'd be interested if anyone knows of anyplace during the weeknights (wed-fri) where they do some cheap entry tourney's?

If you're going to play 4-8, I reccomend you check out the Monte Carlo. I consider it the best small poker room on the Strip.

At Flamingo, the SB and BB is only 1 and 2, respectively, for their 4-8 games.......so you get more pre-flop callers

Wow, that's really strange.

My take on that game though is you can still play tight and hopefully trap players when you flop big or turn the nuts.

It would be fun though to loosen up a little preflop when it only costs you $2 to play.

How's the game there? Good players, tourists???

are you telling us this so you can take our money? heh

All the 4-8 Strip games have $1 and $2 blinds except the Bellagio which has the more typical $2 and $4 blinds.

The Flamingo, Monte Carlo, and Luxor (I think) are spread limit. Mandalay Bay is a fixed limit game with a half-kill. I don't know whether the Sahara is fixed of spread limit.

Mirage, Stardust and Circus Circus are 3-6.

Excalibur is 2-6 spread limit.

I couldn't really answer that question because I only played for 30 minutes because I had to catch my flight. But from what I could gather in the 30 minutes, it did seem looser but that might only be an indication of the table I was at and not all 4-8 games with 1-2 blinds. I wasn't aware that all Strip 4-8 games except Bellagio was 1-2 blinds (as Dynasty points out in the next post).
