View Full Version : Hypothetical Question

Imagine if you could have the same pair in the hole every hand of hold-em you play for the rest of your life. Now imagine that after each hand your opponents forget that you keep getting the same pair over and over.

Question: What is the worst pair you would be willing to play every hand with for the rest of your poker career?

Seriously, taking average position into account, probably 8-8 or 9-9, assuming that by play you mean call or raise every time.

You don't necessarily have to play the hand each time it's dealt, you just have that pair as your hole card each time.

Breakneck,

Naturally, I'd take any pair but the worse pair is probably 33, 44 or 55 rather than 22. Dueces tend to lose to straights less often when they flop a set and all three hands need to flop sets to win. And set over set is only a little worse for 22 compared to 55.

But then again, I would only expect to make hypothetical money with this decision.

Rick
