I play regularly in a very nice and large room in NYC. No one with a brain is going to introduce you off a board. But if you seek out chess clubs, bridge clubs, backgammon clubs in Manhattan , you'll find a link to poker games before long.

I don't really play any of those games, it would be difficult making friends in such an environment. Also, is there a lot of overlap between chess players and poker players? Feel free to PM a response if you like.

More overlap between backgammon and poker since both are played for money.
