looking outside seeing the traffic still have a death grip on the 5 freeway. I turn back to the table and posted behind the botton. as the cards were being deal, I was just hoping it was 72o but to my delight it was a great J /images/graemlins/heart.gif8 /images/graemlins/heart.gif. 3 limpers ahead of me so I decided to put in a raise to kill the blinds but both called and called around.

flops comes 9 /images/graemlins/club.gif8 /images/graemlins/spade.gif3 /images/graemlins/club.gif

SB bets, BB called, EPs called, MP raised, I 3-bet. SB capped, BB folded everyone else called. I this point I figured SB have at least a nine, and at least 2 flush draws or straight draws.

turn card 2 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif

Sb checks, EPs checks, MP bets, I raised
Sb cold calls 2, 1 EP folds,2nd EP cold calls 2, MP 3-bets....what to do?

Well played. I think this is almost standard play for 2+2. I mean, you did have second pair and all. When you're beat, calling is crazy, so raising must be right. And who knows, once in a blue moon your hand is good.

I figured if SB check then he couldn't have a 9, and MP can't have a over pair or he would have raise pre-flop, so the only think he could have is a set or a drawing hand. So I decided tahts enough money to lose so i just called. and everyone called around
river comes Q /images/graemlins/spade.gif
could this card just the worst or what!? now JT is golden or even a single Q. but SB knuckles, EP knuckles, MP cust and threw the cards at the dealer showing A /images/graemlins/club.gif. I thought about it for maybe 5 second and decided that my betting pattern was consistence with an over pair and I bet out. SB waited and saw how big the pot was and called. EP folded. I flipped over my hand and SB showed a 8 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif.
I guess sometimes you just have to play out a hand...its pure luck!

I don't know where you get these ideas. I think it should be an easy fold on the flop. The preflop raise is debatable but I guess it's probably ok.

You can't just think about what the chances are you have the best hand are. You have to think about the chances of it staying the best hand. Even if you have the best hand or if you can knock out a better one, all kinds of bad stuff can happen on the turn or river. You also have to think about improving. If you improve to two pair someone will likely improve to a straight.

When jazz musicians need to work some stuff out, like practice, they say they have to do some "shedding." This is short for "woodshedding." I not sure of the origin.

I think you need to do some shedding, man.

Variety is the spice of life. that is why I remember crazy hands like these not because I am proud of it but its just something to think about how crazy we play sometimes.

you are probably right on the fold on the flop. but pre-flop I posted. So to varied my image I wanted to represent a big pair to drive away the blinds. it jsut didnt work.

WTF, man?

I mean, this hand sounds insanse. Maybe commerce is different and you play real good or something but it seems like you apeshit with the worst hand.

No reason to knock the blinds out, you have a drawing hand, and it's not worth a raise even if you are on the button. I wouldn't even play it if my oponents were skilled.

you're nuts, man, nuts.

wow I mean there is some merit to making people think you are crazy but this is over the top. Glad to hear you won it but man it sounds like the play at commerce is worse than hawaiian gardens 30/60 which is about as loose as it gets.

Thats why after playing there in 1997, Commerce have been my home based casino. To tell you the truth the only other place I played ring games regularly is Belagio. but Commerce is not for the faint of heart if you know what I mean. its loose but you can get caught up and lose alot ...or win alot.

in the old days, musicians would practice their horns in the woodshed to avoid disturbing everyone else. are you a jazz musician? I'm a jazz guitarist.
