The bonus rules are very strict, although I can't remember them off hand. I don't even think video poker is allowed for bonuses, let alone blackjack.

If you do ever play there, avoid their auto-play feature. The Gaming Club has admitted their auto-play doesn't follow perfect strategy for blackjack (even though its advertised that it does). They have also said that they won't take the initiative to find out all of the strategic errors with their auto-play and fix them. Even worse, there are rumors (which I believe are credible) that the auto-play doesn't even play according to its posted strategy.

So the bottom line is that The Gaming Club is impossible to hit for +EV bonuses, and it is bad for recreational playing because of the problems with their auto-play that they refuse to fix.

lunch, you're twisting our words horribly -- we haven't "admitted" anything. We have observed that the default autoplay settings for European BJ differ very slightly from the strategy card suggested by the Wizard of Odds, but we suspect that the effect on EV (assuming the latter is the more correct strategy) is very small.

Even if you believe that this is just semantics, you're still way off base. The Microgaming autoplay feature allows the player to change the strategy card any way they want, and you don't even have to use it at all if you don't want to, so there's certainly nothing untoward in this regard.

If you're a rank amateur then whether the card is perfect or slightly off it's still improves your EV significantly; if you're an expert then you can configure it how you want. Contrast this with software provided by our competitors, most (none?) of which doesn't offer any sort of autoplay in the first place.

So where's your beef? With all the respect due to a long-time, well-respected poster, the best analogy we can come up with is a little kid complaining that his new bike for Christmas only has a bell 'cos he wants a horn too, yet the kid next door never got a bike in the first place.

That's also unfair. Point out any errors you know of to us and we'll certainly chase them down. Nobody is forcing anyone to use the feature, you can change it how you want, and even if the strategies are wrong (and we're not necessarily admitting that they are), they still produce better results for the vast majority of players than before they were provided. We don't get what the problem is in the first place.

"rumors" that you "believe are credible"?!?
"problems with their auto-play that they refuse to fix"?!?

All of this is absolute nonsense. We've never seen one complaint about the auto-play not working to the provided strategies (if you have, then please tell us where to go look), and we're more than happy to put pressure on Microgaming to fix any problems that you might care to point out that we aren't aware of.

It's easy to test for yourself whether or not it does play as it claims, so please rather do that and post your findings instead of posting completely unsubstantiated rumor, and if you can list a specific problem, again we're more than happy to chase that down.

Ulimately tho, there's a very simple solution to this debate. We've discussed the matter with Microgaming, and they are more than happy to adjust the software to support multiple strategy cards, so players can (for example) choose between the one suggested by the Wizard of Odds, or possibly one from Stanford Wong, or whoever. This will take a little while to do, but if it doesn't knock this non-issue on the head then we really don't know what will.
