Tough night tonight.

AQ twice flopped AQ and beat both times by 2's and 6's

AK flopped a K and beat by K3

JJ beat by Q7o

and others too numerous to mention.

WHat do you guys do when you have a tough night? I'm ready to sacrifice a virgin to the Poker gods.

Thanx
Jim

I like to take a break for 24hrs and read up on sections of WLLHE or any other poker book I have lying around.

JD,
I had a terrible night myself. I played around 180 hands tonight and won 1 hand /images/graemlins/confused.gif

I have never folded so many hands!! I kept moving from table to table, but the cards never got any better.

Funny thing was the hand I won was T3o in the BB. Flopped 2 T's bet out and everyone folded except 1 guy..bet the turn and he folded.

Oh well I'll be back tomorrow.

I swear a little, then take a breather...after I cool off, I thank the poker gods for the plentiful fish, and take my pole out and start again...and after I'm finished with the sacrificial virgin I go play some poker.

Holy cow, no kidding. Me too.

Lost 40 BB in about 45 minutes. Some of the highlights:

-QQ LP, flops a Q, cracked by a flush.
-No less than 3 hands later, QQ again, now on button, flops a Q again, cracked this time by a runner-runner straight. The guy even apologized to me.
-AKs, flops K top pair, drawn out by runner-runner trip-4s.
-AdAh, flops rags, but all hearts. I have the nut flush draw that doesn't come home, and one of my two opponents had in fact limped in between 2 PF raisers with 6h4h.

How do I deal with it? Well, so far, I think I've figured out how to tie the noose knot, but I'm having trouble finding a place to hang it from. I have located a good stool though.

Well, I guess I'll join the bad night club as well. QQ 7 times, winning 0. Three bet the flop with top two, somebody called cold with A high, caught running spades for the flush. Nut flush loses to quads and boat on the same hand (should have folded at some point in there obviously) Etc.

Usually I take a good hard look at my game, plug a couple of leaks that have crept in, then get back to it in a day or so.

We've all been there.

Don't despair. Review the hands you lost and post them if you feel like it. If you played these hands as well as you could and someone sucked out on you, obviously there's not much more you could have done. Just know that for every one of these crazy beats, you'll win several more where your opponent just folds on the river after he misses his longshot and you don't think twice about it. I know that doesn't help the here and now when it seems like the deck is rigged but let's face it, this is gambling and longshots do hit. Just think of yourself as the casino - over the long haul with the odds in your favor, you WILL win. It's impossible not to. But just like the casino, you'll have to pay out a jackpot or two along the way to keep your customers (fish) happy.

Well I ended up the night down 50 BB. Not catastrophic but very unusual. It seemed to be the Fishes Christmas Party last night. The amount of suck outs was incredible last night. I don't mind losing to a better hand. Its the suck outs that get under my skin.

On 2/4 table I got hit big twice by 1 fish. 1 with a rivered straight and 1 with a rivered full house. Believe it or not the only pocket pairs that held up for me were 1 set of 8's.

I have to relate a story to you that really scared me. Towards the end of the session I believe I was starting to tilt and lash out at any mediocre hand. I called a raise cold with A7s. Then I flopped the nut flush. I won the hand but at the expense of another 2+2er. As soon as that hand was over I said "WTF am I doing?" This is not the way to win back the money. So anyway, it took a suckout win for me to realise I was going over the edge.

Back to the tables tonight.

Thanx
Jim
