Howdy Folks,

Some friends and I play tournament style limit hold'em in our home games. We had a new situation there 2 weeks ago, and I'm hopeing some people can tell me what the correct procedure is for the following.

3 players, they are betting and raising till one of them is all in.

the 2 players left in the game, now start a side pot.

1 of those players folds.

Does he (the folder) lose the rights to the original pot, or just the side pot, whats the rules in this situation. and whats the rationale behind it.

Any help is much appreciated, thanks

Best Regards

-John

The standard rule is that once a player mucks he loses all equity in any pot, whether side or main pot. I hope this helps.

Thanks, Thats what I figured, but was unsure of what to say at the time. Seems a bit harsh though :-)

Thanks again

Not really.

Player A is all in. B and C build a side pot. If B can't beat C for the side pot (thus the fold), he doesn't stand to have a piece of the main pot either.
