View Full Version : BOSS tourney proposal

rkiray
12-09-2003, 01:57 PM
Based on the polls and discussion, tomorrow I'll send a proposal to TruePokerCEO for a $20+2 tourney on Jan. 11 at 9 PM EST. The tourney will be open to any 2+2er with 25 legit SS posts (I play on interupting this liberally).

If anyone has any more suggestions speak up now. Also please reply to this thread if you are interested in this event. No commitment required, just if you think you'll play if it fits in your schedule. The polls didn't get as many votes as I thought they would. If there are only about 20 people interested in this, I probably shouldn't waste any more of my or TruePoker CEO's time on this.

Suggestion: Make it a stud tournament.

BOSS = Best Of Small Stakes, so I think it has to be hold'em. But thanks, I forgot to mention it's a limit hold'em tourney.

Im in. I agree, it has to be limit holdem. At the very least the first one has to be limit holdem.

I have also stated my interest and hope we can get a good turnout.

I'm pretty sure I have enough SS posts, and I will most likely be free that day so you can count me in.

If you've already decided to play you can stop reading here. If you haven't yet and need some motivational trash talk, read on.

I can understand why a lot of posters haven't shown interest yet, with me a lock for winning and all, but I'm sure 2nd and 3rd place will have a nice pay out.

Well since you only have 26 and this is the type of thread I don't count as "poker related", you probably don't qualify yet (if any post in another forum or a similar thread). But there's plenty of time. 25 posts isn't that hard IMO.

Can't count you in unless you start making some poker posts in this forum. Your profile shows this as your only SS post. You need 25 poker related posts in SS. I don't consider this post as poker related. You do have plenty of time though.

Umm ... Black Aces are better than red ones. Discuss.

Does this count?

rkiray
12-10-2003, 12:13 PM
That was defined in another post (one of the polls I think) as a poker related post. Not about critters, or Texas, or a delusial zoo person bragging about how good they are. Basicially I'm just looking at which forum a post is in, and the title. The main posts I'm ruling out are posts in threads like this (or the zoo vs. SS guy tourney threads).

Details will be posted when I know them. I'm going to send an e-mail to TruePokerCEO this afternoon to start trying to determine what they are willing to add this time. He already posted that they are interested in hosting the tourney.

Pah-leeese! This is what you call trash-talk? The only reason this post has gained any interest is the fact that you have said you'll join.

However, first you'll need 25 legit SS-posts not 2800 posts that stroke Ulysses' ego. /images/graemlins/blush.gif

All you Yankee-fans are alike, no heart, no soul, drowning that damaged inner child by routing for the perennial favorite. You do realize you live in New England right? Why don't you move into the burbs of New York with the rest of heartless-fools. Does your mama make your bed too?

Love always,

LOL, not completely true though. That's the reason I'm able to play limit poker. Otherwise I'd have to play pot limit like the Brits do. So, thanks for that. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

rkiray, I didn't count but it looks like there are 30ish people interested so far. Have you talked to True CEO? Is this definitely going to happen?

I sent an e-mail to TP CEO yesterday afternoon. Haven't heard from him as of last night (haven't checked e-mail this morning yet). I'm pretty sure it's going to happen. I'm much happier with the response in this thread than the polls. I think the trash talking really helped.

On another issue, Mike Haven sent a PM expressing interest in this tourney. I said I'd have to check to see if he had 25 poker related posts in this forum. He replied that he didn't think he had 25 poker related posts anywhere. I think we should make an exception for him, because of his work organizing the SS vs. Zoo tourneys.

I'm curious why anyone would vote no on this. He negotiated hundreds of dollars of rebates and add-ons in each tournament. If all 80 players took advantage of both the discounts in the last tourney that's worth over a $1000 all by itself. Could someone who voted no explain their vote? I think he deserves a small break.
