Welp, I get to start the new day at $27. Gonna be a lot of work to get out of the .5/1.00. For some reason, the 1/2 games look a lot softer than these cheap ones I'm on now.

Sure, call my AQ UTG raise with KT. /images/graemlins/confused.gif

I'm up 2.50 - playing PL though. My own 50.00 and I'm not eligible for the oic prizes I know but what the heck!

Yup, I updated before we started but played some non OIC games today and didn't get a chance to update before midnight because I was still playing. My balance should be correct tomorrow.

I had the idea of trying this OIC at shorthanded (6 max) tables. It will give me a change of pace, and should be some good practice at something I've never tried before. Anyway, jumped in today and did spectacularly well, shot up to $76.50 after about 1 hour. Don't worry, I'm not expecting that every time /images/graemlins/smile.gif.

Can anyone point me toward some good posts about general shorthanded play concepts? So far I don't really have much of an idea of how to change my play other than being more aggressive with top pair, mid to low kicker, and even middle pairs (which I usually just toss in 10 seat).

I finished my first day with an OIC bankroll of $4.25 /images/graemlins/blush.gif Since this isn't enough for a buy-in at the .5 tables, I am guessing that I can start over with another $50 buyin by revising my non-OIC bankroll on the leaderboard. Right?

Is there a prize for the first person who needs to rebuy? /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Played 3h yesterday and i am up to 73,21.
It whas realy nice to see some full 0,5/1 10p tabels (ok, 60-70% whas 2+2ers) betwen 12.00 - 15.00 EST, the tabels are ursuly emtey that time (there are acturly 3 full tabels now), cant w8 until i get home to try climb up to 1/2..
The big MINUS whas the server lagg during the freerollīs. Time for prima to upgrade servers or cancel the freerollīs (or requier X raked hand to join as someone sugested)! It realy destroys the fun, and its almost imposible to play whitout going crazy!

Yep the tables early yesterday evening uk time were really tough saw a few names from here. I ended up down to $38.

However a few hours later (I guess early evening US time) the tables did get a lot more looser and easier so got back up to $68.

On again tonight hope to try and break the level tonight and get onto 1/2 tomorrow.

The lag when the freeroll was on was a real pain.

First time poster, here. /images/graemlins/smile.gif I found out about the OIC from RGP, though I'd been lurking on 2+2 for a little while, too, and finally got around to registering. I think I like it a little better here.... /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm middling pleased with my performance last night; I only had 2.5 hours or so to play, and managed to build my $50 into $83.12. I figure 13+ BBs/hr isn't too shabby, for a relative newbie like me. /images/graemlins/grin.gif Then I checked the leaderboard this morning, and saw people with hundreds of $$, and decided maybe I wasn't so smart after all.... /images/graemlins/laugh.gif I gather, from the other discussions, that at least some of these folks didn't play by the rules.

Well, just wanted to pop in and introduce myself here; I live in the Boston area, and have been playing poker for about 2 months when I can (including a couple of trips to the Trump Taj Mahal in AC).

Welcome Count. This place is nuts but at least the three initials aren't on every single post. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Good luck in the OIC

Thanks, and I assure you, I do not miss the GCA, the NewGCA, or the GCB (actually, they're pretty funny sometimes). Moderated forums do have their advantages, but the "free speech at any cost" folks consider this sort of place anathema. Oh, well. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

BTW, I take it that this forum is "the Zoo", and the Small Stakes forum is "SS"? Any particular reason those two seem to be (friendly) rivals?

This is quite possibly the least moderated "Moderated" forum you will ever see. You will very seldom see a post from any admin in here and very little, if any censorship except for spamming and we take care of that ourselves lol.

SS and the Zoo are indeed "friendly" rivals although many of us cross post in both. The SS vs Zoo tourneys kind of evolved around several people spouting off at each other. Really all in fun but some really decent poker too.
