View Full Version : california rake change/9-18 games dried up?

maybe it's too early too tell, but ive noticed a dramatic change in the 9-18 games (the highest spread game in LA that is pot-raked--used to be button dead drop-- rather than time charge). these games have been sucked dry of action in the past month, since the new rake structure of taking $5 ($ plus $1 jackpot) out of the pot. ive never seen so many hands folded to the big blind at this low a level. it's just pathetic. very rarely will a pot be more than 3 handed postflop. the 6-7 handed pots are gone, youll see maybe one every half hour or hour. even the worst players seem to be tightening up in response to this rake change and not playing every single hand as they used to. even 6-12 was a lot less action packaed and multiway the few times ive played it this past month or so.

has anyone else noticed this? nothing at all has seemed to change at the 15-30 games (time charged). these are still generally pretty loose affairs.

Anything more then a $3 button live blind time charge is brutal. It kills the game. $5 is flat out STEALING in my opinion. Then they want to take ANOTHER buck for the jackpot? Go play elsewhere. This game will be terrible in no time at all.
