Played in the intertops freeroll tonight, a limit hold'em tourney with $2500 of prize money and 163 entrants. It was only my third multi-table limit tourney but I'm wondering if I should've seen these things coming.

Final table, ten players, and I have about 20,000 chips, average is 16,300. Stakes are 1000/2000. EP's stack is slightly shorter than mine.

Preflop: AA in MP
EP limps, I raise, LMP calls, EP calls.

Flop: K87 rainbow
EP bets, I raise, LMP folds, EP raises, I call.

Turn: 3[K87] complete rainbow
EP bets, I raise, EP calls.

River: J[3K87]
EP bets, I call.

EP turns over K8 for the flopped two pair. I had a feeling that K8 was possible, but it just seemed so incredulous, given that he played from EP. Should I have bailed, or skipped any of the raises?

The second hand that left me without a fighting chance was, in fact, the very next hand.

I'm at about $10k in chips, and get:

Pre-flop:
QQ in EMP, 1000/2000, 10 players
I raise, UTG calls. (UTG is same opponent as last hand)

Flop comes: JJ7
UTG checks, I bet, UTG calls.

Turn comes: 5 (JJ7)
UTG checks, I bet, UTG calls.

River comes: A (5JJ7)
UTG bets, I call.

UTG turns over KK.

How bad was this? Should I have seen it coming?

Personally I was annoyed at myself for the first hand because I actually found myself thinking 'jesus christ, he played K8?' on the flop, then continued anyway thinking it's probably KQ or KJ or something.

Thank you in advance, for telling me why and how I suck /images/graemlins/smile.gif
