View Full Version : 2-5-10 holdem

there are no casinos in the town where i live. on weekends i drive several hours to the closest casinos, where i comfortably beat 15-30 holdem.

i just discovered a weekday-daily holdem game at an "unoffical" cardroom in my town. the structure is 2-5 spread limit with 2-10 spread limit on the river only. the game is raked 10% up to 3 dollars.

the quality of players is mixed, some loose, some tight, none fearsome.

i question whether this game is beatable, and would appreciate input in this area. i would also be very interested in any stategy tips or adjustment-ideas from anyone familiar with this type of game, especially adjustments with the big bet on the river.

also, this same location spreads hi-only omaha one day a week, with the same limits (2-5-10) and they add a kill (5 to 10 anytime on all streets).

this is easier than texas holdem in my opinion--draw to cinches etc.. but i would still appreciate any input folks might have re this game.

thanks, doGGy

It's essentially a 5-10 game,(spread limit low bets are rarely made, and when they are, it's usually either a weak bet or a total fishhook;fun to decide which). Play your standard 5 way flop game and you should be more than ok. Encourage a kill button The omaha game seems trickier, as the rake plus the kill on scoops cuts deeper into your win %. Stick to the holdem.

seems Daliman overlooked fact that the omaha game is high only....but since it is I think you will find that it is as beatable as the hold-em game.

In fact it may be even more beatable because it is easier for players to make mistakes in omaha than in hold-em....I think.

I encourage you to give both a try, and remember that just avoiding the trip to casino may be worth something??????

I totally agree then. Most people look at omaha as 6 hands to play instead of one. I look at it as 6 ways for a newbie to misplay....
