View Full Version : How Much Do You Keep In Your Online Accounts?

As my bankroll has grown, I've become leary of keeping a substantial amount in any one online account. I'm just wondering what others view as a reasonable amount to keep in an uninsured account. Also with all the talk of frozen accounts lately, it seems like a good idea not to leave too much in one place. I very recently made rather large withdraws from a couple accounts, so the most I have in any one account is $5k. Low enough? Or still too much? I'd rather play it safe than sorry.

i don't like to have more than 10k in each site, before that point i don't really care that much.

I have built up to $120 in my pokerstars account. I'd like to cash some of it out, but I'm afraid of the cashout curse.

I think if I ever get up to $200 I'll definitely cash out, rivercards be damned.

I just tallied my Total online balance right before I read your post so I'm gonna let it all hang out.I do this once or twice a month with two things:cash balances and pending cash money bonuses or promobucks.

Mine look like this:

20 rooms Total;many I barely ever get to:

Party Poker= $2837.82,$0.00
PokerStars=478.46,$0.00
ACR=$5.00,10.21 PB's
Bugsy's Club=$0.20,$100.00
Empire Poker=$1110.47,0.00
Eurobet Poker=$575.00,0.00
Fabulous Poker=$271.91,205PB's
Golden Palace=$302.32,$0.00
Intercasino Poker=$100.84,$100
Intertops Poker=$575.00,0.00
Paradise Poker=$500.50,0.00
PokerPot=0.98,$69.94
PokerRoom=$21.00,0.00
PopularPoker=$0.17,20 PB's
RoyalVegas(Prima)=$439.71,0.00
GamingClub=$100.43,0.00
True Poker=$83,0.00
UltimateBet=$400.77,$193.63
WSEX=$276.67
AztecRiches(Prima)=$6.80

Online Total=$7613.34

Neteller Balance=$1630

Total=$9243.34

I play alot of MTT's thats why I have money spread all over.Must of my funds are at Party or Party Skins.
Ususally if things are going ok I take anywhere from $2-5K offline at the end of each month and EFT to my bank account.
Am I anal or what? heh.
I like having the ability to play almost anywhere at any time.If I find my funds are really just not be utilized I cash out. When I hit a decent sized tourney win like I did at Prima and ACR for $$1-2K I take it off as soon as I can and leave enough just to do business. This month my totals are higher than average but at the end of an average month I have $5-6K total online including Netller.At the end of bad month I may only have $2-3K online which is still enough for me to get the job done.
Twice this year when there was consternation over possible new regulations for online gaming I took everything off in 5/6 days.

GOT:
If you have a predominate limit you usuallly play I think 100-150 big bets is enough at Limit and 500 big blinds at NL..it may act as a good stop-gap for you if your wheels fall off or you run bad.Playing short or in more aggressive mid/high limit games I would have 200 big bets.At biiger NL games maybe 750-1000 bigblinds.
Always have enought online to do your business.But If you keep a huge BR online you run the risk of maybe just once getting out of line ,like playing the wrong guy heads-up or emoting and blowing up and moving up while losing ..and that can happen to all players bad or good...that will do serios damage to your BR and psyche ..know thyself.Find a happy median.

I like to take money offline every month.If it's a job treat it that way.

I have a spreadsheet of all my accounts open while I play. It keeps track of all my stats too but I can enter my current amount on the table at anytime and tell you to the cent what my online balance is. lol

Pokerooms I wouldn't mind keeping over $10,000 in:

Party, Empire(Not Intertops, Multi or Eurobet)
Paradise
Pokerstars

Sites I wouldn't trust:

UB
Golden Palace
Prima(with the exception of TGC)
Pokerroom
Pacific
Any site within 100 miles of Dutch Boyd

As you can see, my list is short, but I do trust Party and Paradise with any amount of money I put in there.

What don't you trust about Pokerroom? I have found them to be very trustworthy with money/cashouts (faster than most others). Is it just lack of action? BTW, back in the day I did keep close to five figures on there and felt safe.

May I ask why you don't trust UB? Just opened an account there and about to put a healthy bankroll in.

I would judge Coral/Eurobet one of the safest homes on this list. It is a major UK gaming business that has been operating for decades.

That sounds sensible. But it is the opposite of a tight-aggressive strategy. Do you see why?

Well only hold in Party what you buy into a table for at your chosen limit times the number of tables you play plus an amount that would cover your 99th percentile loss for the period it takes to move cash from your checking account into Party. Assuming transfers back and forth between Party and your checking account are free, top up any deficit into or move any surplus out of Party at the end of each day. I assume that you would do this through IGMPay rather than Neteller since using the latter would introduce an unnecessary additional element of risk. That all seems rather tiresome to me but it would seem an optimal solution to balancing your objective of minimising uninsured credit exposure with your (unstated but assumed) objective of remaining in action at Party.

Obviously, if you wish to play other sites, a different strategy would be necessary. Also, you may wish to investigate whether splitting funds between Party and Empire (or other Party skins) would in anyway diversify your risk.

Finally, note that the excess of any deposits you hold in a single US bank over $100,000 are not FDICIA insured.

"Any site within 100 miles of Dutch Boyd"

I agree with the rest of your post, but this still too close for me. If I knew he entered a country where my money was I would want to cashout.
