Given that Big Al will not be here, I've decided that a REAL handicapper should continue the tradition (this being a traditional holiday and all), so.....

Detroit +whatever (it doesn't matter what the points are)

Ever since the Lions' owner got his hands on the incriminating photos of the commissioner, therebye guaranteeing this sweet always-host-the-short-week-game deal, the Lions have ruled Turkey Day.

No matter how bad they are, no matter how powerful the team that they face, Detroit often has a chance to win the game outright.... regardless of how ridiculous it seems on paper.

And when you include the point-spread... I'll have to check, but I think the Lions have a better percentage record over 20 years than the Rutgers Scarlet Knights did THIS year. Don't ask me how, don't ask me why (i'm still trying to prove the referee connection), but Detroit almost ALWAYS covers the spread on Thanksgiving. I think they've even added it to the NFL Rule Book...

Brett Favre and Ahmad Green trying to drive to the division title and the playoffs? Not a factor.

Joey Harrington playing like your grandfather on his "bad days"? Not to worry!

So, take the points (knowing that you're robbing the fools blind AND getting unnecessary points on top of it) and the Lions, sit back and digest the turkey, and dream about the new car you're going to buy! Trust me, this is a safer bet than fading scalf's picks!

This is W. Big Al Jr, signing off, with your "Shoe-In of the Week@" (Week@) (brought to you by Quick Escapes Travel).
------

"Do you just have to get away for a while?

Tired of answering the same old questions? - "How will my team do this week?" "Are you sure I should bet my house on this game?"

Worried that, if you don't get away, an angry mob of shoe-in salespersons will demand a discussion of what laying points REALLY means?

Concerned that if you don't take a break, you'll just DIE?!?

Then call the professionals at QET. We can sneak you out of your house and have you whisking away to your hidden penthouse at the top of the best Las Vegas casinos in NO TIME! Ask us for our "Out the Back Door" midnight limo service...

Remember- Quick Escape Travel: the name to know, when you just HAVE to go (before the punters try to end the show and remove your soul)"

Just kidding Scalf!

Seriously, since the spread is 7, I'm sure GB will win by 7, so all of us will lose (I took GB).
