1) Do you or anyone else you know of make a verbal distinction between hands where you need all the 5 cards (e.g. straights) and hands where you need less (e.g. two pair)?

2) Do you or anyone else you know of make a verbal distinction between hitting outs with "five-card hands" and "less-than-five-card hands" such as "completing" for the former and "improving" for the latter?

I think a pat hand is maybe dealt pat - like in five card draw, first five before the draw.
