I am just starting learning about hold'em and want to practice while stydying. I believe that playing at 0.05/0.1 table will not hurt me too much. Which online casino would you recommend for that?

Another question - if I am starting with $100 - should I start with 0.05/0.1 or I can go higher?

Start at PartyPoker, .50/1. Make sure you can beat that before moving up.

If you're just learning and still want to play .50/1 with only $100, be prepared to lose it all.

I'd suggest playing .25/.50 personally.

Is the point that it does not make much sense in playing lower than 0.5/1 or it is because Party does not offer lower games (as, say, Pacific does)?

Free practice here (http://www.cs.ualberta.ca/~games/poker/).

It's up to you. I'm just saying it's possible to lose that $100 just due to a bad swing, even if you're a really good player. But ya, Party only has .50/1, if you aren't comfortable losing that money I'd suggest playing at PokerStars or UltimateBet's .25/.50 tables or .05/.10 tables.

I would start with play money games. They are so loose and so easy that if you develop the patience to play only good cards you'll crush those games, and already be developing winning habits.

The cheaper games are vastly different from the bigger games. People tend to be very loose and aggressive at these tables. I only know UB, though.

Having said that, it's a great way to practice - far more realistic than the free games. UB also has no-limit tables with a max $2 buy-in.

My experience was that I didn't start winning until I got to the $1/2 tables. The play was more regular, more textbook. Even the .50/$1 tables were too loose to exercize any real strategy.

I'm new to this too, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I am a fairly consistent winner at the UB $1/2 tables though.
