I have trouble decided when to call/fold hands. It seems like I'm always calling losers and folding winners. Is there any text that deals with this specifically. Should I be more apt to fold to a check raise then an outright bet?
This is really bothersome to me.

yes, especially against typical players. a good player might have check-raised you with QJ on hand 1, but against a typical player it is much more likely that you are beaten.

on hand 2, i think you could have called, even though i would probably have folded to a typical player's check raise with the same hand.
