View Full Version : Am I suppose to limp with small pairs at 1/2?

I was almost always able to limp with small pairs at .5/1, but the 1/2 tables always seem too tight aggressive to limp from E/MP if there havn't already been 3 or more callers. Yet I hear a lot of people that say they limp with most small pairs at 2/4 and 3/6.

Is it suppose to be like that?

I would limp UTG with small pairs in most online 2/4 games, maybe in 3/6 games on party. I would not limp with them higher. Usually.

I am not so sure. I find when there are a lot of people in small pairs <77 will not win because there are so many over cards that can improve other hands. Only 2 cards can you out and there are more than a 2 dozen that will help everyone else

But with that many people you get odds to flop your set.

I think that it is important to try and get a read on the texture of a game the first 30 minutes to an hour in. If you are getting 4-6 players seeing the flop with little pre flop raising, you can limp with most small pairs from any position. The tighter and more agressive the game gets, ie 3-4 players to the flop with moderate pre flop raising, I usually will not play pairs smaller than 7’s unless I am in middle position and I have multiple limpers.

Most 1-2 games, are going to be loose enough, and passive enough that you should be able to limp in most positions with any small pair.

Maybe, first in in MP, you might want to toss them, but other than that, they should be OK.
