NEW ORIGINAL SERIES PREMIERES TUESDAY, DECEMBER 2 AT 9PM

October 29, 2003 - New York, NY - Beginning Tuesday, December 2 (9-10 p.m.
ET), Bravo will offer viewers a look into the private world of Hollywood poker
games with the new original six-part, weekly, one-hour series, "Celebrity Poker
Showdown," hosted by Kevin Pollak.

"Poker has been a cultural phenomenon for decades and it is currently one of
Hollywood's hottest underground activities," said Joshua Malina, executive producer of "Celebrity Poker Showdown" and star of "The West Wing." "I know viewers will love to be a part of this event. The intensity of the competition and the sharp, funny interaction among the celebrities were everything we hoped for."

Filmed recently before a live audience at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, each episode of "Celebrity Poker Showdown" will feature five celebrities competing against each other for a piece of the $250,000 prize pool in a game of No Limit Texas Hold’em poker for the charity of their choice. Each week a new crop of stars will take to the table to challenge their peers. The winner from each week’s game will go on to compete in the championship final sixth episode. Viewers will have the inside track on the hands the different players are holding via hidden cameras. They will also be able to hear from the eliminated players, who will watch the remainder of their respective matches from the 'Loser’s Lounge,' via closed circuit television.

All players are guaranteed at least $5,000 in prize money. Just for making it to
the finals, fifth place will win $7,500, fourth place will win $10,000, third place will win $12,500 and second place will walk away with $20,000 for their charity. The "Celebrity Poker Showdown" champion will walk away with $100,000 for the charity of their choice.

ok, i'll test my pop culture knowledge, and try to give some significant reference to these people. i might know who somebody is, but not know how to reference them...

HANK AZARIA - responsible for a huge chunk of voices on The Simpsons. has also appeared in several comedic onscreen roles. He's the guy with the spoons and the phony British accent in Mystery Men.
DON CHEADLE - if memory serves, he's the black, British guy from Ocean's 11. that's the most recent thing i can remember him in. i know he's been in other stuff.
DAVID CROSS - The bald guy with glasses from 'Mr. Show with Bob and Dave' (Bob being Bob Odenkirk, who you've seen elsewhere).
PETER FACINELLI - I vaguely recall, but isn't that the kid who played the football star who loses his girlfriend (Jennifer Love Hewitt) in the movie 'Can't Hardly Wait'?
TOM GREEN - Dumbass behind 'Freddy Got Fingered'. his humor is just wacked. he also got married and to and then divorced from Drew Barrymore. he also had a testicle removed due to cancer on his MTV show 'The Tom Green Show'. ALLISON JANNEY - no idea
RON LIVINGSTON - the main actor in 'Office Space'
EMILY PROCTER - no idea
PAUL RUDD - the guy from 'Wet Hot American Summer' and other movies. i'm sure you'll recognize his face (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0748620/)
RICHARD SCHIFF - guy from 'The West Wing' (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0771493/)
DAVID SCHWIMMER - The whiny dork from 'Friends'
MARTIN SHEEN - surely you know who Martin Sheen (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0000640/) is,
SCOTT STAPP - stupid loser from a horrible band
NICOLE SULLIVAN - Nicole Sullivan (http://www.nic0lesullivan.org/nicolecareer.html)

I'm a huge Simpsons fan, but I think that Hank Azaria is a horrible actor. Every character he does is a stereotype. He was also in Godzilla - To paraphrase the Comic Book Guy, "Worst Movie Ever."

Don Cheadle is not British, but he is a great actor. He was also Buck in Boogie Nights.

Ron Livingston played Rob in the cult classic "Swingers".

Allison Janney is on The West Wing.

Emily Proctor was on West Wing for a while and may now be on CSI:Outer Mongolia or whatever version is now playing. Richard Schiff and Allison Janney are also both on West Wing, as is Joshua Molina, the producer of this Celebrity Poker gig.

Is it possible I watch too much West Wing?

Don Cheadle was also in Traffic, a pretty fair movie.

Didn't Scott Stapp have some weird line where he compared his band to Led Zeppelin?? I think everyone hates this guy. And stop making songs about your f$#*&@* son! NO ONE CARES!!!

Sarah Silverman has hosted a home game (http://www.laweekly.com/ink/02/50/theater-kotler.php) for years. Look for her at the final table.

Good god man. I grew up in upstate NY where people love their country and classic rock and classic rock wannabes like Creed so I was subjected to this crap for years on end. Creed might be the worst ever. I'd rather listen to an entire Nada Serf album. Christ, I'd even sing along to Alan Jackson if I meant no more Creed. ugh. they've invaded my thought. I have to go empty my bowels.

yeah dude. Creed bites the big one. i feel bad for Creed fans the same way i feel bad for meth addicts or people who give money to televangelists.

i have actually enjoyed the roles i've seen Hank Azaria in. Mystery Men is a hilarious movie, i thought. but perhaps that's because i really like Janeane Garofalo and Ben Stiller and Geoffrey Rush.

Sarah Silverman is Jimmy Kimmel's girlfriend. Jimmy Kimmel just had Chris Moneymaker on his show, apparently. he also had Bob Odenkirk as his guest host a couple weeks back, and Bob was on Mr. Show with David Cross, also appearing on the celebrity poker thing. i wonder - is there a connection?

yeah. this guy is crazy Led Zeppelin is the greatest band ever, and Creed is the worst band ever. no similarity there.
