Since I'm starting to play a higher limit more often I find myself bringing more money than I'm used to to the card barn. My problem is after about 30 bills it no longer fits in the clip I was using. The rubber band while classic is bulky and of course bends the bills a lot, and I could just see it popping out of my pocket. Anyone have any clever solutions I'm not aware of? I want to bring about 40 bills.

get bigger bills?

I don't have this problem. If i did, I'd get a nice bill fold that clasped.

Uhm I don't think bills higher than $100s are in general circulation.

I have a wallet which has "real" money in it.

Money belt. Nice for your situation, and nicer if you get mugged. pocket the original buy-in, everything else is safe til you need it.

Get a box at the local card barn. If you don't want to become that big of a degenerate, then keep high-denomiation chips for your buyin, and just cash those in ($500 chips are common at most casinos). It's not like you are gonna spend that money right away anyway.

There's no boxes. There's no chips greater than $100. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

I asked my bank nicely, and got them to raise the maximum daily withdrawal limits on my poker account, which solves the 'money going into the room' problem nicely. As for money going out of the room, I went out to jewelry stores and tried out money clips until I found one which holds 50 bills comfortably.

It seems that if you go into a jewelry store and explain that you really need a better way to carry $4,000 or $5,000 cash, they're more than willing to accomodate you.

I don't like the $500 or $1000 chip idea solely because I have been dumb enough to lose a $500 chip for about two months. It seems a lot more difficult to lose a thick stack of cash with an identifiable clip on it.

I've been using a rubber band for like 30 years and have never had the roll jump out of my pocket. It seems to be the preferred method in Vegas for "real gamblers" -- pulling money out a wallet will result in snickers and knowing nods as the regulars eye up the novice.

BTW, the red ones are lucky, and best if you either find it or someone gives it to you (doesn't matter if you ask for it.)

use a rubberband or get a box.You can wrap up 10K+ easy or get a safety deposit box in whatever room you are playing at.

If that doesnt work you can always hit the pit and go broke that way you will not have to worry about this silly question /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I dont know what kind of rubberband you are using that is more bulky than a money clip, but you may want to look for a thinner rubber band.
Bent money spends just as good, and if you do in fact have $3k the rubberband shouldnt bend it

Uh, Chris, they have safe-deposit boxes. I think I have four boxes of toothpicks and nothing else in mine right now, but I have one. All they need is a $50 deposit. Talk to any floor man the next time you're there.

And then, tomorrow, bring 60 bills.

I have a box at my local card barn.

A $630 box, to be exact.

*sigh*

What does the extra $580 get you?

zzzz

Losing with AA QQ JJ TT2x was insulting enough, but even worse was getting a K down UTG for my 1st card and the dickhead dealer fumbling my 2nd card and it landing face up. I don't have to tell you what it was.

I'll get em next time.

Hmm, I have never carried that much money on me in my life. I am curious though about you guys who use a rubber band. Do you stack all the money and roll it from one end into a cylinder and put the rubber band on it--or do you stack the money, fold it over like in a billfold, then roll it up?

RollaJ

While I do roll, I dont roll my money.
1)Stack it
2)Fold it
3)RB it

Is that a pile of $50s I see? Doyle would NOT be happy with you.

In fact, to quote Dice "I only carry hundreds" (at least when I get to the card room, on the way out I have to fight so that they dont give me all 20s).
Unfortunately this was the only applicable picture I could find /images/graemlins/frown.gif

I only carry $50's......why? Because if you carry 100's your a show-off and if you carry 20's your a pussy.....

I don't like the idea of carrying 100 $50 bills just to play a mid-stakes game.

Back to the top question from vehn, though... get one of those wallets that fold once. You can shove about $2k behind each of the credit card holder areas (stack and fold once), and another $2k in the normal money area. That's $6k in a wallet, and then you can use a clip for another $3k-$4k. That should be enough to play anything up to about 100-200 for a night.

You can carry about $20k in hundreds between 2 pants pockets without much difficulty.

If you're playing anything bigger than that, you can afford a safety deposit box.

Why would Doyle disklike 50s, unlucky?

Vehn
11-06-2003, 06:51 PM
The box is just the $50 deposit, no fee, so I just stuck my whole bankroll in it rather than keeping it in a box on my bookshelf. And yes I take the term "bankroll" literally. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I dont have the exact quote out of SuperSystem, But I am pretty sure its because $50s are too easily mistaken for $5s. So you give some guy a tip or something and you have just overpayed by $45.

Doyle is the same guy who says he never EVER plays AQ. So take it for what its worth. I actually kind of agree...I mean I have accidentally given a $100 to a cab thinking it was a $10, so think how easy it would be to mistaken a $50 for a $5.

As I've been playing online mostly, I've come to think of my bankroll as Pokerstars + Empire + Paradise + Neteller.

I keep mine in the envelope the bank provided with the fundage, no problem with it in my pocket and made with a woven cloth type paper, should last a while.

fanny packs have got to be the worst 'accessory' to anybody's wardrobe. ask the babe, she'll tell you that Fanny Packs violate LGPG...

J.R.

I feel "violate" is not a strong enough word. Fanny packs are the antithesis of LG, and don't do much for defeating a nitty table image either.

Try wearing it around your shoulder, it should do something for that nit's image.

The casinos that I play at allow me to run a line of credit. I go to the card room, put my name on the list, then go to the cage and get as many chips as I want.

They let me take up to seven days to repay the line. If I don't, then they remove the cash from my checking account.

Another good option if you continually use the same card club is to 'color out' instead of cashing out. In Connecticut you can get $5000 chips, $1000, $500 on down.

Andy B

I'm pretty sure that the line of credit thing is not an option for vehn_. I am quite sure that the biggest chips they have are $100. vehn_ has his own safe deposit box now. A skinny little kid like him shouldn't be walking around with that kind of money anyway.
