hi. i am fairly new (3 weeks or so)to internet poker and just wanted to know what limit the games get really tough. i have been playing .50-1 and 1-2 and have been winning enough to know that i am better than average. i would like to be challenged but don't want to lose my shirt. i am thinking about moving up another level or 2 to test the waters, but i have a feeling that the very good players play at those levels. i have read sklansky's book as well as a couple others, and have experience playing at home games, but the internet poker seems different, since there is no way of reading the opponent other than betting patterns. i would appreciate any and all input.

You should have a bankroll of at least 300 big bets. Move up to 2/4 if you can afford it ($1200). You won't see much difference in the competition untill you get to 5/10.

No one can really answer this. What's tough for me (or anyone else that answers) might be easy or hard for you. It's all relative to your skill level. For some players .5/1 is tough. For others 15/30 is easy.

I would recommend 1/2....Playing .5/1 may be too wild and turn you off..If you decide on .5/1, make sure you read some posts here on proper play (tight).

How many hands have you played at .50-1? If you've only been playing for 3 weeks, your win rate may not be hold up over the long run. Make sure you have the bankroll to support moving up but I wouldn't move up past 2-4 until you have quite a bit of experience and can beat the game on a fairly consistent basis.

thanks for all of the responses. i'll stick to 1/2 til i figure out my win rate. btw, i think i read somewhere that 300 big bets is needed if your win rate is 1bb/hr. please tell me if i am wrong. also, if anybody knows the formula for calculating the stack needed for any given win rate x, please let me know.
