View Full Version : Stuball...Amazing...

Ryan_21

...Yo, I just saw the most amazing thing in my life tonight. I was playing a tournament with some buddies of mine (just a 4 person tourny). We are all pretty good and have been playing since like '97. Anyway we all started w/ the same amount of chips. One dude went out really quick and gave Clay an early 2 to 1 to 1 lead. Next in about an hour this dude named T-Rex, we also like to call him Stuball, (in rememberance of Stu Ungar, b/c of his uncanny poker ability) goes all in and loses to Clay. So Clay has a 3-1 chip lead on me and Stuball has like 3 chips left. Anyhow, we play for about 20-30 more minutes and Stuball doubles up a couple of times and then about 10 minutes later me and Stuball go all in and he had me covered and he won. So, Stuball and Clay are playing head up and Clay has about a 3-1 chip lead on Stuball, in the next hour Stuball literally beats Clay down and wins the whole thing. Dude, came back from like 3 chips to win the whole thing. Man, Im still freaked out...I dont wanna play with Stuball anymore.

I get this weird feeling that Stu Ungar is deified by your clique. Are there rituals and sacrifices involved here?

One good thing about him, everyone I know named Stu is a weasally, business, everyone's best friend type. Ungar sure wasn't. maybe there is hope for this name.

Really, I'd have thought it was in remembrance of what he OD'ed on.

Listen, it was bad enough that you burned up so much cyberspace deifying a guy you never met, but really, do we have to hear about "amazing" plays by your imaginary "Stuball" friend as well ?

"Man, Im still freaked out...I dont [hear/read] about Stuball anymore."

Looked up "tilt" in the dictionary and saw your picture.

If you cannot take the heat, stop posting such self-referential nonsense. No one knows your friends, imaginary or otherwise.

The main point of your post was that among four friends playing on your dorm room floor or wherever, one came back from 3 chips and a chair to beat out two others. You call this the most amazing thing you have ever seen, about which you are still freaking out.

Sorry, Ryan, not only is that not "amazing", it is not even slightly interesting, it is not news, it is not gossip, and likely isn't even a "view".

Why don't you create the "Amazing Ryan21 Website" and post these gems where they are more appreciated. Here, they look comical, a perception not aided by your hysterical reactions when someone makes fun of them.

Haha...are you 6?

"it is not news, it is not gossip, and likely isn't even a "view". "

"No one knows your friends, imaginary or otherwise."

The fact that no one knows my friends certainly makes it News, certainly makes it Gossip, and it IS MY view, (like I said before, you dumb fu ckin SOB).

"Sorry, Ryan, not only is that not "amazing","

Someone being outchipped 100-1 and coming back to win is "not amazing"? Im sure since you are so cool you see this everyday.

"your hysterical reactions when someone makes fun of them."

Find someone else to pick on cuz I'll keep cussin your bitchass out if you wanna be a smartass. On the other hand, maybe you "need" to keep picking on people on the computer, cuz you certainly couldnt beat my ass.

Ryan, you were playing at home with a couple of your friends. there were three people in the four-person tourney at that point, none of whom has any known skills. That one of your friends came from 3 chips and a chair against you and another friend is simply NOT noteworthy, except among you and your three friends, cutesy nicknames and all.

Any story needs some context, otherwise it has limited interest. Yours has no meaningful context, other than to you and three friends. That four unknowns played a private tournament is NOT news, that four unknowns do anything is not gossip, and, your "view" that it is is myopic at best, and blinded by your ego at worst.

That you simply do not get this is hilarious, that you think "cussing me out" makes you seem less ridiculous is equally funny.

Cuss away if it makes you feel all grown up, but that's why people get banned however.

Wow .... the most amazing thing ever happened the other day. Dude, I am still freaking out about it. This guy Ryan_21, who I never met, made a post on 2+2 about how he played in this tourney`at his house. The amazing part of it is that I read his post on this amazing thing called the internet.

Now that is news, as a famous guy put it, "I heard they put the internet on computers now". Now this famous guy, Homer, has been on TV forever with a hit show.

Sometimes, I watch TV with my friend, who I like to call Stewball. Now, Stewball was a racehorse ... et cetera.

Your story doesn't add up for me. You say Clay was the chip leader. If Stuball went all-in against him, he shouldn't have any chips left. So Stuball must have been the chip leader when he went all-in against Clay.

Maybe I'm missing something here.

Ryan_21

I once saw a really hilarious picture someone made online...and while insensitive, it rung true.

Funny, I always found Roy Jones and Deion's unbelievably pompous acts annoying and I don't think I'm alone. Case in point Deion having the audacity to say he wants to be the Falcons head coach even though he has zero coaching experience (his "consulting" doesn't count). What a joke. If you want to talk about "good guys" give me a warrior and class act like McNair, not a showboat like Deion.

Gentlemen of Nerd-dom and Mathsterbation,

I see a heartfelt 2+2 welcome is being issued to a new poster. To someone who maybe hasn't played a lot of tournaments the "chip and a chair" miracle seems pretty outrageous, wouldn't you say, Poker-poindexters? Get a life Goofs! Grab a beer, go to a gentlemen's club, actually play real cards somewhere that serves cocktails!

I would like to welcome Ryan and share a poignant story of the late, great Mr. Ungar. About a decade ago, when San Manuel Casino had first opened they offered a "bank your own" blackjack game. A local well-heeled business owner was banking a pretty large limit game when Mr. Ungar appeared on the scene, coked out of his mind, with a couple...."women of the evening" in tow.

Stuey sat in the game and soon had somehow annoyed (or upstaged) the rich guy. A shouting match erupted in which Stuey was bellowing stuff like, "Don't you know who the f*** I am, you small-time shine boy, etc." Ungar then proceeded to brow beat the guy into raising the stakes of the game even further at which time Stuey got hot and forced the guy to sheepishly leave! Mr. Ungar was one of the greatest phenoms of all time and anybody that knows about his lore and domination of big time poker during his prime will admit it regardless of their opinion of his lifestyle!

Good post, but I think we're both off a little here. You're right being cocky doesn't necessarily disqualify you from being a "good guy" but to the level these two are it certainly is a less than admirable characteristic. I for one count a little humility as a positive thing. At the same time being an outspoken Christian like Deion, or simply obeying the law and keeping your body healthy like Roy Jones isn't enough for them to be a "good guy" either, but they do indeed help. None of us can really speak to the true character of someone we've never even met. I was just trying to point out the two guys you cited as "good guys" are still disliked by a ton more sportsfans than say Steve McNair or Kevin Garnett.

Yeah Deion is such a good outspoken christian that his mechanic had to sue him to get paid. Deion asked to have his car repaired and agreed to the estimate. When the work was done Deion paid the mechanic less than 30% of the bill and said Jesus told him that was all he should pay. Pretty typical for a millionaire christian egotist.
