The "pre-event event" prize is $500 shared between all the people who get to $2,000 before then (playing in accordance with jason's rules).

If no-one gets all the way, then it will be shared by the top 5 (by ref to biggest bankroll).

The formula for dividing up the spoils is P = $500/N, where N = n*(n+1)/2, and n = number of players who get to $2,000 (or else 5 if no-one does). Places then pay as follows:

1st = nP
2nd = (n-1)P
...
(n-1)th = 2P
nth = P

So for example, if 3 players make it all the way, then you get:
P = $500/6 = $83.33
1st = $250
2nd = $167
3rd = $83

We were going to make it winner takes all, but we figured that since there aren't any other prizes we'd rather try spread the love a bit for the pre-event (the main event from Monday will still pay $500 to the winner only + the other prizes as well of course)

Cut-off time for measurement of balances is 23:59 EST Sunday night.

(note: this assumes that you do want to wait until Monday; if not then the suggestion is obviously irrelevant)
