[/ QUOTE ]
The "pre-event event" prize is $500 shared between all the people who get to $2,000 before then (playing in accordance with jason's rules).

If no-one gets all the way, then it will be shared by the top 5 (by ref to biggest bankroll).

The formula for dividing up the spoils is P = $500/N, where N = n*(n+1)/2, and n = number of players who get to $2,000 (or else 5 if no-one does). Places then pay as follows:

1st = nP
2nd = (n-1)P
...
(n-1)th = 2P
nth = P

So for example, if 3 players make it all the way, then you get:
P = $500/6 = $83.33
1st = $250
2nd = $167
3rd = $83

We were going to make it winner takes all, but we figured that since there aren't any other prizes we'd rather try spread the love a bit for the pre-event (the main event from Monday will still pay $500 to the winner only + the other prizes as well of course)

Cut-off time for measurement of balances is 23:59 EST Sunday night.

pokerwhore
10-31-2003, 05:16 AM
well its a no for my OIC,

but I can switch accounts and we can go heads up on 1/2 no limit or 2.5/5 no limit if you wish.

Translation:

Inthacup, you are too good for me to beat you at limit. Why don't we play a game where I may have a chance. Please play NL against me....pleaaaaaaaasssssse

pokerwhore
10-31-2003, 05:31 AM
you are right cup, you probally would woop me at limit, im really not a limit player as I prefer or spend most of my time playing no limit.

I can handle my own though in limit when called upon but I have only experience at heads up no limit games.

so I wouldnt play heads up any limit game cause I have never done so before.

On another note I have never lost a heads up no limit game /images/graemlins/smile.gif

lol. And you want me to play HU NL against you. Seriously, I'm sure I'm outmatched when it comes to NL. I'm just jerking your chain a little bit when it comes to limit. I have nothing to prove, I just wanted to ruffle some feathers.

lol it ok!

im good at building bank and know my limitions, I dont have a problem building $10 up this $50 makes it a little easier for me but I know playing heads up limit against ya I would have rough time /images/graemlins/smile.gif

but I make ya deal after the oic is over.

I play ya hour heads up 1/2 limit and you play me
an hour 1/2 no limit, deal ?

The OIC is Limit poker only isnt it?

pokerwhore
10-31-2003, 05:32 PM
yeh it is but I must admit cause gaming club in one post said any holdem game and I did happen to play some .25/50 no limit games. After the official rules was posted for last time stating limit games I switched. I stayed within the limits on moving up though.

So I hope I can get a ruling on this on the pre event.

I only won $40 on the no limit games so hope ya dont disqualify me on pre event since official rules wasnt posted until after I was playing and the gaming club post
saying any holdem game.

Im at 1/2 limit now almost ready to move to 2/4

JasonHoldem get a ruling?

rusty JEDI

Im pretty sure that the official event also doesnt start until November 3rd, so any winnings you collect now are not useable for the official OIC.

pokerwhore
10-31-2003, 05:35 PM
yes I know that but gaming club said top 5 share in $500 prize pool if you make it by sunday night just a pre event type thing.

I just wanted to ruffle some feathers /images/graemlins/cool.gif clichés are cool !
Actually I was thinking of playiing some HU as part of the OIC - something like the first $20.00 at .50/1.00 - with another 2+2'er we could play all or nothing and not be concerned about a h&r

Since the rules were pretty nebulous when you started I think we can let this slide.

Although, if you beat me by less than $40 I reserve the right to retract this statement. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Apologies - in the rush we forgot to brief all the support guys about the pre-event (they should all know about the main event tho)

We've put out a general notice to them so this confusion shouldn't happen again.

Pre-event stands as per our previous posts.

I have also participated in the pre-event event, but thus far I've only managed to turn my $50 into $73.59 at the .5-1.00 tables. There wasn't any particular process to enroll in the pre-event, was there? If I have enough time and luck, perhaps I can slip into 3rd place. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yep, I was keeping my eye on how you were going from another table, you kept getting to $96ish then dropping down below $90 then up again, then down again, etc. I quit at about $80, then finally got to $104 tonight (my tonight that is) & lo!! there were no $1/2 tables going!! /images/graemlins/frown.gif
That'll have to do for my pre event try.

pokerwhore
11-02-2003, 11:21 AM
at the 5/10 slapping these guys around bank at $830 now should be at 10/20 pretty soon.

pokerwhore,

You suck and we all hate you! /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Just kidding, big congrats as it looks like you're kicking some serious butt. I made it to 1/2 but then got busted up and had to drop back to .50/1. I'm taking today off from poker (playing at least) because I'm not feeling well, so my pre-OIC bankroll ended at $61.60. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

I'll get you all on Monday!

Jason

pokerwhore
11-02-2003, 12:29 PM
lol thanks Jason, hope you feel better man!

You do better Monday. I tell ya man I had the hardest trouble with 3/6 my sets kept getting beat by higher sets putting huge dents in the bankroll but once I got past that 5/10 alot easier /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Everyone left me now though wont play with me, even got cussed out at one point lol

been playing short handed pretty much just 4 or 5 players maybe thats why I had trouble with 3/6 cause I had to play at a full table.

I look forward to Monday /images/graemlins/smile.gif get to do it all over again /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I will make $2,000 before todays up that wont be a problem here I dont think, will have to see.

good luck

I managed to get in about an hour and a quarter at 1/2 and made $4.25(!). In the unlikely event that you slip up, I'd like to formally declare my net result as +$54.25.

Unfortunately, I don't have time to play any more tonight. Even worse, I will be spending most of the coming week internetless in New Jersey so I won't be able to enter the real challenge for some time. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

Hi all

Just a quick FYI to outline where we're at with regard to publishing the results of the pre-event.

First off, we've been putting all our efforts into getting ready for the main event, so at best we'll be able to publish results for the pre-event some time after it ends (possibly even only on Tuesday altho we obviously hope to be quicker than that -- it pretty much all depends on making sure the main event gets off to a smooth start).

In truth, we haven't even had a chance to check how anyone is performing, so of course if it's only pw that looks like getting to $2k then it's an easy job and the results will be out quicker (if he doesn't make it then we're going to regret not making the prize winner take all for whoever came closest to $2k /images/graemlins/smile.gif)

So please bear with us -- the main event is our top priority right now and that's where all our attention is focussed, but we will make sure that the pre-event results get sorted out ASAP after we have the main event off and running properly.

Thanks in advance for your patience in this regard.

Did I win? /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Sorry you didn't make it, but you've still got $950 more than you started with, right? (Plus some more prize money most likely).

See you in the main event (or hopefully not /images/graemlins/wink.gif ),
