What causes the scrambled screen? Computer geek imput sought

Sometimes when playing at a poker site the entire poker application will turn to a technicolor array of squiggly lines....what causes this? Also, for the first time this has just happened on my tool bar. What gives? Is it time to finally get that new computer?

The fact that just the poker application went nutzo and not the whole screen indicates that it is most likely not an hardware issue. (e.g. video card)

I would guess that it is the poker app itself. Which site is the poker program from?

I remember when I had too many screens or apps open i would get the red squiggly lines with blue mixed in on the action butons usually. It would get worse and worse until eventually I had to reboot, and/or close some apps.

That was a result of a lack of video memory if I remember right...Is that true Sam?

Lack of memory will cause that
(Low system resources)
Or if you have not turned the PC off and restarted in a long time.
