tournament buy-ins

when participating in a tournament that offers buyins and add-ons and gives you an extra $1000 chips if you buy additional buyins and addons up front. Essentially starting the game with more chips but no chance of buying in again if you lose the chips. Does it make more sense to save those buyins for later? 100 people in tournament initialk buy in is 50 dollars for 1000 chips. any help would be appreciatyed

if the # of chips and the price is the same either way, I would wait to buy them until you need them. The exception would be if a really terrible player at your table doubled up early, then I'd want a bigger stack to increase my chances of busting him for his entire stack. Assuming NL hold'em of course.
