We were supposed to be at the Oasis Open today, in Mesquite, Nevada. We aren't. I started feeling icky on Tuesday. My game was off, I wasn't doing such a hot job of putting players on hands. I was lucky to end exactly 25 cents up after tips and the rake, lol.

We went home early and I hoped that a good night's rest would put me back to rights. Wrong. On Wednesday I had an itchy throat and a cough. I still played in the Wednesday night hold'em $110 tourney, but I didn't even get close to the money, although we only had 18 players this week.

We rested and slept all day on Thursday. Even Glenn had come down with the cold. We had to cancel the Open on Friday morning. We might still go on Sunday or Monday, but right now, we are sick.

Friday found us feeling a bit better, so we rested up all day and went to play in the Omaha 8 tourney at the Belle that night. I was doing pretty well after the NL portion started, having doubled up my very first all-in hand, but then I was moved to Glenn's table, where I was knocked out my first hand, in the big blind. It wasn't very exciting, the small blind flopped a straight. I had two pair, all royals, a four flush and a four straight. Too many outs not to call, but I got no help and IGHN. Yes, I would do the same thing again /images/graemlins/smile.gif

After I got knocked out, I put myself back on the rocking 5/10 game with 1/2 kill. There were only about 20 names on the list before me, but do you think they could possibly start another game? No way, it might keep them from starting one of their 2-5 hold'em games, and what a travesty that would be!!!!

I watched Glenn until he got knocked out not long after me. The tourney table Glenn was at has a brass rail in front of it. I have a habit of going to one side or the other of this brass rail, and leaning my hip into it, keeping far enough away from the players, while not putting myself in the way of walking traffic.

When Glenn got knocked out, he came to join me at the rail. Suddenly, out of nowhere, RC came up to me yelling. He was furious. I'd never seen him in such a temper. He told me that I was standing too close to the tourney tables. This was hilarious, in a way, because the tourney tables were absolutely swarming with railbirds, some of them literally "breathing" down the neck of players. Since the poker room was so crowded on Friday night, Ward had not been able to control the tourney railbirds, they were just everywhere. I always try to keep a comfortable distance, and never stand directly behind a player's chair.

Anyway, RC started screaming at me about being too close to the players, and citing other times I had done the same thing. All of this time, he is ignoring the railbirds crowded right over the shoulders of remaining tourney players. I looked over to Ward to get some help, but like two weeks ago, he didn't back me up in the slightest, and when he noticed me seeing him watch RC yell at me, he once again turned away.

What is it with me and people literally attacking me in the poker room? Am I an easy target? Am I too nice? Good gawd, RC gave me the treatment, steaming with anger. Glenn and I stood gaping at RC, mouths hanging open in shock and disbelief.

We left the poker room, knowing we'd never get seated in the 5/10, but Glenn went back to try to talk to RC calmly about the way he treated me. RC had caused such a stir, that the railbirds who were hanging over the shoulders of players were looking at him questioningly, wondering why he was attacking me, standing next to the brass rail, a couple of feet behind THEM, while saying nothing to any of them??? One of them made the "cookoo" motion next to his head, and shrugged.

Glenn couldn't get RC to calm down, even after I'd left the poker room. Glenn said he was literally shaking with anger. I don't know what in the world happened to RC, but whatever!

Maybe I took his accuasations of the short buy-in too well last Saturday, and suddenly, he sees me as an easy target when he is angry. People have been warning me of RC since I started playing at the Belle, but I saw us as kindred spirits, suffering silently from a killer disease that has taken some of the joy out of our lives. I have tried to be friendly to RC from the beginning, and I see now that everyone else was right.

I will not tolerate abuse and unjust accuasations. I am through with RC.

from your posts on here, Felicia, I'd say you are a pretty cool lady, intelligent, and kind. I see no reason why anybody would treat you that way, except, perhaps, if the guy was intimidated by you - either your skills or your gender. that's not a good reason, but it might be The Reason.

anyway, i'm sorry to hear you were treated so rudely by someone in authority in a poker room. you deserve better. you should complain.

Felicia,

I think you should consider talking with the Casino Manager or a Shift Boss. There is no reason one person should ruin your whole outlook on a casino.

Thanks, Jim. I found out last night that RC called up the poker room manager, James, and complained about me. Of course James knows me, as well as RC, so he took it with a grain of salt. Then James asked Ward what happened, and lo and behold, Ward finally backed me up.

Ward is a dealer who runs the tourneys on Friday nights (only), when the regular tourney director, Doug, is off.

RC would never run me out of the Belle, lol. He is just one of those crusty, old dudes I thought I had become friends with, until this week. The Belle is my "home" cardroom, so there is no doubt that I will be staying there.

On another note...I will be in St. Louis over the Christmas holidays. I hope we can meet up this time (I know it was my fault last time that we didn't get together).

Awwww, ty Baggins. I'm really not that kind, but don't tell anyone, lol.

RC is not in any kind of authority. He is just a player, like me. I guess, since I write these stories all the time, that I assume people know who all of the "characters" are. I don't keep repeating their roles in my posts. I should be more aware that not everyone reads all of my novella-length stories, lol.

I do read all your posts when i come across them. however, I am on 2+2 intermittently. sometimes not checking in here for a month or more.

anyway, glad to see that he's just a crusty old dude, and that you won't let it bother you too much.

I was sitting next to Ward (the dealer who runs the tourney on Friday nights) at the 4/8 game and he proceeded to tell me what happened after I left on Friday. He said that RC was so mad that he actually called James, the poker room manager, to complain about me.

James went to Ward, to ask him what was going on. Not only did RC accuse me of standing too close to the tourney tables, but also that I was "giving advice to Glenn during a hand." Outrageous. Ward told James that I was NOT standing too close to the tables, in fact, I am one of the few people who purposely tries to keep as far away as possible, while still watching the action. He also told him that the only thing I had EVER told Glenn while a hand was in progress, that he remembered, was saying I needed to eat immediately, due to my blood sugar (I can't remember when this took place, but one time I did make it very clear to Glenn that I was going to eat, that I "had" to eat immediately). Finally Ward stood up for me! I don't even know if Glenn was in the hand or not, or which tourney it was. For whatever reason, RC took this as me giving Glenn advice during a hand. Puhleeease!
