Both are equidistant from my apartment, wondering where you would prefer to play? all variables should be taken into consideration.

Foxwoods. Garden State Pkwy is the worst road in the world.

Garden State Pkwy is the worst road in the world.

Just my opinion, but I'll take the Parkway over that stretch of I-95 between the NY border and New Haven any day.

Take the Merritt while that construction in Bridgeport is still happening. When it isn't, it moves during non-rush hour at around 80. Garden State and its horrble 35 cent tolls every 10+ miles are horrendous. Throw in summer shore traffic and its hell in an automobile.

Doesn't bother me that much now that I have that toll-transponder. Plus it's not a big choice for me anyway. 45 minutes to FW and 5.5 hours to AC.

I like AC. I actually find less traffic on the Garden State Parkway than on 95. The only problem with the GSP is the tolls.

In CT, Foxwoods is your only option right now. In AC you have a choice. Foxwoods is too big, you spend half your time parking and walking to the poker room. The room is too crowded and the lists are long. They actually have last call for alcohol. The comps are less than in AC. The dealers at FW are not great. As far as I know, Foxwoods has no poker rates.

AC has its problems too.

The games are good in both places.

okay, outside of traffic, the garden state vs. I-95 is choosing the lesser of two evils...sooo any other considerations??

I've played four five-hour sessions at FW, two five-hour sessions at Taj, and a very brief session at Borgota, all at 2-4. I thought the games were softest at FW.

In addition, I will echo comments made by others in previous posts about the grundgy nature of the "Garbage Mahal." I never went into the Trop; guess because I didn't have my flak jacket with me /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Theres a lot to do in AC when ya get sick of cards, or need a break. They have the boardwalk, hockey, baseball, boxing some weekends, shows, bars, clubs, etc. I've never been to Foxwoods, but I hear it's a casino in the middle of no where. /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

More fish in AC?

I dont get sick of cards, they get sick of me...
there are more fish in AC, or are you wondering as well?

I haven't been to AC that much, so I'm no judge. What I will say is that since Mohegan closed it's poker room, Foxwoods is a zoo with up to 2-hour waits to get seated.

They have ..., hockey, baseball, boxing some weekends, shows, bars, clubs, etc.

You can find all of this either at FW or Mohegan or within a reasonable driving distance. The only difference is that at FW, the beach is about a half-hour dirve.

My biggest differental is choice. At Foxwoods you don't have any - you are there and that's where you'll play.

In AC if the Taj is a rock garden at your limit, not spreading your game, or overcrowded go to the Borg, or the Trop, or Bally's, or the Sands or Harra's - you get the idea. Need a cheap room - shop around.

All in all, If I was equal distance - I'd pick AC.

I hear it's a casino in the middle of no where.

Not for nothin' but I grew up in NJ. If it's not beach weather, AC's pretty much in the middle of nowhere, too.

Oh, yeah. No ghetto to wander into just around the corner at FW.

Around the corner!!! Try right across the street. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Ummmm, how about in the heart of a ghetto.

I would choose Foxwoods. However I usually play anywhere between 10-30 hours in AC, so I like the change in venue.

If I had to remain objective with all things being equal, choose Atlantic City. You will have better game selection. You have three poker rooms to choose from, and all three casinos have their own brand of player.

In the final analysis, this is the reason to choose AC *if* you are making the trip solely for poker. All the other considerations are extraneous details.

thanks for the info everyone....AC it is.
MG, i am going to try that trop. tourn. on sat. ideally i would like to take advantage of the loose maniacs and not have to rebuy but..things dont always go as planned, is it safe to assume that most if not all take advantage of the add-on? so maybe one rebuy and an add on would be a fair amount to plan on spending for the tournament= $160?

Morgant,

You will have enough for the tournament with $160.

I do not rebuy or use the add on option.

Good luck, I plan on leaving for Foxwoods on Sunday afternoon/morning so I do not think I will make it to AC. Post a trip report and enjoy yourself.

What's the rebuy/add-on amount/cost/restriction? I've always thought it was wrong to not rebuy/add-on.

What's the rebuy/add-on amount/cost/restriction? I've always thought it was wrong to not rebuy/add-on.

They have allowed an optional $50 rebuy and the player recieves T500. The rebuy works like this, if a player falls under T500 that player can rebuy. If the player falls under T500 again, he can rebuy again.

I have seen players rebuy 2 and 3 times in a tourmanent.

MG, sorry another question. In the tournament forum you said there are umlimited rebuys regardless of chip standing, i am playing the Saturday 50+10 starts at 12:15?! meaning you can rebuy at anytime if you are chip leader or chip dog(never played like that, hence my questions on strategy)?? or am I not reading correctly....thanks

Morgant,

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I posted bad information. They offer unlimited buy ins and an additional add on.

You have to fall behind 495 for the rebuy, you can do an add on at any time.

Do a search on the Tournament board on rebuys and see what the Fossilman says. My attitutde about add-ons is that unless the maximum add-on is less than 15% of my stack, I'd always take it.
