Man, best deconstruction of a myth, and indictment of a monstrous institution I've ever read. Ayn Rand did a good job in the 60's on the ol' Inquisitors, but this tops it.

Hitchens can be a pompous bore at times, but he gets an A+ here.

My apologies to Muhammad Ali for calling him the "most overrated person" ever.

BTW, I graduated from a 4 year Catholic HS, here in Brigham Young's backyard! /images/graemlins/shocked.gif Raised Episcopalian, tho. /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

The article just skims the surface of the true nature of MT. One thing I don't get is why Hitchens expects the Church to be anything other than it has proven itself to be beyond any doubt these last 1600 or so years?

Oh, and "BTW, I graduated from a 4 year Catholic HS, here in Brigham Young's backyard! Raised Episcopalian, tho. "

So that explains it. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I am the One, Orgasmatron, the outstretched, grasping hand.

My image is of Agony, my servants rape the land.

Obsequious and arrogant, clandestine and vain; two thousand years of misery, and torture in My name.

Hypocrisy made paramount, paranoia the Law.

My Name is Religion; sadistic, sacred, whore.
