Someone on this site once told me about a club that runs with a membership rate instead of a rake, so they are in the clear with Texas gaming laws. Don't recall the location or other details, just that it's got plenty of players.And you can get a yearly memebership or one time memebership. Also check out homepokergames.com I have yet to use this site so I can't say anything one way or the other.

You're thinking of the Austin Poker Club which was busted a few months ago. They weren't "in the clear" by a long shot -- from newspaper accounts, the State was investigating/building a case almost immediately after the club opened.
