Several questions regarding what constitutes the pot?, so the blinds are 10/20. two limpers for 20 each...so the pot stands at 30(the blinds) or 70. I assume 70, so i have a strong holding and think a pot sized bet would be ideal...is that a bet of 70 to match the pot or is a bet of 140 considered a 2X pot bet........ i often see people saying on the button or CO they raise the standard 3X pot so in this case it would be a 210 bet? This maybe more than a mouthful but also in what situations do you bet the pot 2X the pot etc...sure stack size, players tendencies matter but some general thoughts on the topic?

When betting the pot, the pot consists of all money in the pot + any bets that you must call before raising.

A few examples:
Ex1) Blinds are 10/20 - folded to you and you want to raise the pot. pot = 10 + 20 (blinds) + 20 (your call of the blinds)
so you can raise 50 for a total bet of 70.

Ex2) There is 200 in the pot and someone bets 100 and gets raised another 250, you want to raise the pot. The current pot is 700 with a 350 bet to you. After calling the 350 the pot will be 1050 so you can raise by that amount for a total bet of 1400.

It turns out if you bet the max the opponent is always getting 2:1 to call.
