You really need to give more information about hands for proper analysis. In a multiway pot, you should be checking that flop and looking to either C/R or fold depending on whether or not you can limit the field. Against one or two opponents, it's a bet all the way situation. What position was the caller in? Was he loose or tight? Passive or aggressive? Also, you didn't say whether or not not the board contained a flush draw, straight draw, or anything else. While these things might not be pertinent to your hand, it can be very important to your opponents hands. These are the types of things you need to start thinking about, not just whether or not you have a piece of the flop.
