I'm going to stay at the Monte Carlo next Wednesday through Sunday. Just wondering if any of you had any info on comps, room discounts or other general info, and if you would stick to this cardroom, or venture to others nearby at different times/days. Any info appreciated. Thanks.

If you book your reservations through the poker room (702-730-7780), you can get a discounted rate. The same is true of almost all poker rooms.

If you don't get that rate, you can get comped daily for $6 in meal discounts.

The Monte Carlo has a great small room but you should definitely check out other rooms, especially if it's your first trip to Las Vegas for poker.

I just got back from vegas and had a good time playing at the monte carlo. Really nice dealers and easy games. You get $6 in comps every 4hrs you sit.

And the nice thing about those $6 comps is you can stockpile them.

A lot of places only allow you to use one comp per visit but the Monte Carlo lets you pile them up.

Just last week me and my wife took a pile of them out of my sock drawer and had a tasty meal at the Monte Carlo buffet. Btw, buffets always taste better when they are free.

The Monte Carlo buffet is a good one though.

Best of Luck

Does anyone happen to know the casino rate off the top of their head?

FYI - I do know the casino rate at the Mirage is $85 weeknights and $115 weekends - 6 hours a play required on weekdays and 8 hours on weekends. I'm sure the MC is less than that...

We're considering a trip in a few months and staying at the MC is definitely an option.

Casino rate? You don't have to pay anything at Monte Carlo. You sign up, and they comp you every 4hrs of play.

No. The 'casino rate' is a special room rate that casino's give to patrons who play a specific amount of time in their casino. I used the Mirage as an example, because I happen to know what there's is.

I know that the MC comps well - but my question was - in addition to those comps do they offer a discounted room rate to poker players as well?

WOW - MC's casino rate is higher than the Mirage. Their standard room rate is usually 20-30% less than the Mirage - at least every time I've checked.

That's interesting...

Does the Monte Carlo or any of the very nearby casinos offer daily or weekly tournaments?

Also, is there any difference in rake between MC and nearby casinos, and do they have bad beat jackpots, big hand bonuses (and are they freebie jackpots, or is there an additional drop).

One other thing - how is the food at the MC? I made reservations for Andre's (I've been to the original location, is this location as good?) and I also made reservations for Delmonicos (how does MC's steakhouse compare?). If there is an eating establishment you all think is a must visit let me know.

Thanks again for all the info, I'm really looking forward to my stay.

The Monte Carlo does not have any tournaments. You can play daily tournaments at Mandalay Bay at 10am and at the Luxor at noon.

All the small rooms have various bonus/jackpot systems.

Mandalay Bay: High Hand bonus for 4-of-a-kind or better
Luxor: High Hand bonus, bad beat jackpot, freeroll tournaments
Excalibur: bad beat jackpot, "wheel-of-fortune" spin for various reasons
Monte Carlo: High Hand bonus
Flamingo: Top 3 hands of the day
Stardust: badbeat jackpot
Circus Circus: badbeat jackpot, high hand bonus
Sahara: badbeat jackpot

Delmonco's is great. You will absolutly love it. I haven't been to the one in monte carlo, but Delmonico's down in New Orleans is absolutly amazing
