I'm headed out to vegas this weekend and I was thinking about playing some poker. I play online most of the time and this is my first time playing on the strip. What type of compeition can I expect at the lower limits say 3-6 or less? How does this competion compare to online games?

You should generally expect your opponents to be very loose, very passive, and overall totally terrible. Your experience will be much different than your online games, especially if you play 1-2 to 3-6 online. You will almost certainly be pleasantly surprised.
I recommend playing at the Monte Carlo, Mandalay Bay, and the Palms, especially if you are willing to play some 4-8 (with 1-2 blinds). The 3-6 and 4-8 players at the Mirage and Bellagio respectively tend to be marginally better, in my experience.

You should also expect people to get uncomfortable when you start raising pre-flop and when you check-raise. Sometimes they'll grumble, sometimes they'll even glare at you. People like their passive, straight-forward game.

It is extremely rare for somebody to get upset about pre-flop raises. I've only had a couple people get annoyd at a check-raise in more then two years of playing in Las Vegas.
These are things that you shouldn't worry about at all.

It depends on how much you play. If you're only going to play about six hours total, that should be enough. If you're going to play 20+ hours, I'd bring more just in case you start off with a losing streak.
