Hi,

I am in St. Louis this weekend for a wedding, and wondered if there are any good cardrooms in the area for Hold Em.

Plus I'm starting to get a bit burnt out on the net, and this would be a great change of pace.

Thanks in Advance for the info.

Yes. There are two. One is in St. Charles out west on I-70 on the Missouri River. Ameristar. They spread 1-5, 2-10 stud and HE from 3-6 to a 20-40 game on weekend nights also have a couple of Omaha games going. The President Casino on the Mississippi downtown is smaller with the usual mix of HE, Omaha and stud. The cardrooms are not the best run things in the world and the locals eat up alot of chairs. If you get there in the evening expect a long wait. On a good note, both are non-smoking and the Ameristar room is fairly nice with a cashier about 30 steps away.

Ameristar has a nice room with a lot of fish.

The President moved their poker room downstairs and reduced to either 4 or 5 tables. Last time I was there they had a long list and not all of the tables were open. They claimed 'they did not have enough dealers'.

The Ameristar is not run much better. The last time I was there they also did not 'have enough dealers'. They had long waiting lists and empty tables. I think only casino's can operate a business in this manner. They have a government imposed monopoly so they can afford to be poorly managed. The Ameristar is a far better poker room at this time.

On my sojourn from Detroit to L.A., I stopped at many cardrooms along the way. I was only at the Ameristar one day, but there were the least amount of fish I have ever seen at a cardroom, anywhere. I moved to four different games and could not find a good one.

Granted, this is a very small sample size, and my session was during the day (Friday). I assume it gets better at night and on the weekends, but when I was there it was rough.
