Scottnyce in the house,

Check along Route 30 if you do not mind travelling.

Only the Taj the Trop and the Borgata offer poker rates. You can call the Taj or the Trop.

You will have no problem finding an inexpensive hotel to stay at along Route 30 right outside Atlantic City.

Have fun /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Try the Sands ... 1-800-AC-SANDS ... and tell them that you're there to play super-sats and subscribes to cardplayer online.

Saturday 3 weeks ago I got a room at the Madison House for only $59 plus tax this way. The room turned out to be a spacious dump, dark & not very clean, but after my wife spoke to the manager on call, who went and inspected the room, we were relocated to a suite in the main tower - for the same charge.

I believe the satellite-rate for rooms in the main tower was $89, definitevely worth it.

Good luck!

Just curious, I've never played poker in a casino but I'm going to make the trip to AC in a month or so. I plan on staying at the Trop, and was wondering what poker rates is all about? Does this mean you have to put a certain amount of money in play to get a special rate or what?

You can get a room at the poker rate by playing a certain # of hours in their cardroom. You get a player's card and your play is tracked through that.

The Days Inn across the street from the Trop is fine and cheap if you can get the manager's special. I paid $89 two weeks ago on a Friday.

For finding hotel rates, one really handy (free) tool is travel axe, at www.travelaxe.com (http://www.travelaxe.com/). It checks rates at a number of websites, and does a decent job of helping to find an appropriate hotel.
