Just wondering how many hours per week the posters here play.

Currently, I manage about 8 hours on the weekend in live play because of the limited choices of venue here in Portland. So it's play on Friday and/or Saturday, spend the rest of the week thinking about some hands and studying. I wonder if my progress would be quicker if I could play more?

Internet play is not an option, I tried it and it's not for me.

Maybe 15-20 hours a week. All online. What about online play doesn't suit you?

The number one thing is that I spend 40+ hours per week in front of a computer for my job and more hours after work on my own projects. I really need the social aspect of live poker in my life for balance.

Second, I perceive the on-line games as being slower (although I know they're faster) because there's just nothing to watch. No faces to study, no conversations to listen to, no tics and tells to watch for. My mind wondered and my game suffered.

Third, I think the live players are just worse than the on-line players especially at the 3-6 and 4-8 levels.

Fourth, getting funds to the Internet sites (for me) is a major pain.

Now I'm making an effort to play 'seriously' I'm putting in 30 hours+ a week. All online.
