As a Cardinal fan, I hate the Cubs more than any team other than the Mets. And yet I found myself rooting for them. Pity I guess. Or respect for Dusty Baker who has quietly been the best manager (OK, maybe Torre) in baseball for a decade now.

Either way, I hope they make it to the World Series. I shudder to think what a Boston-Cubs or a Yankees-Cubs Series would mean for MLB.

Its a shame that it now looks like he won't make it into the Hall. Aside from the fact that he won, I always respected him for shipping all the druggies (Templeton, Hernandez, Lonnie, etc) out of town.

i am really not a sports fan at all, but i am from chicago, and its nice to hear about the home team doin somethin good for once.

i also have a solid 'read' on Dusty Baker from what i've seen in his interviews etc. he's a good dude, through and through, i can just tell it.
