This hand is from a live game at a 6/12 table. The table has been loose at this time.

I am in the big blind with j8 hearts.
There is 1 early position limper, MP limps and button limps, I check.

Flop {Ah, Ad, 7h}
I bet. EP calls. MP raises ( this guy is supposedly pretty good,but known as aggressive, so I put him having trips). Button folds. I call.
EP calls.

Turn { 4c }

I check. EP checks. MP bets. I call. EP folds.

River ( 2h }

I check. MP bets. I raise. He reraises and I call.

I lose to a boat, A4 offsuit.

What should I have done. I put him on trips, but should I have assumed a boat and folded or not check raised the river and just called?

You did fine, and this guy is not good if he's playing A-4o.

I realized that after the fact. I got my money back later, though. It came back and more later. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

With the board paired, I would normally bet out on the river with a flush. This way, you guarantee that the river will get bet, but you don't risk losing three. That said, against an aggressive player who is certain to bet the river when checked to, I like your check-raise.
