i am a regular player there, and i think they have a good site overall. If any of you UB folk agree with these points let me know, or who knows, it might be just me too.

1 Taking notes is a pain in the neck on this site. Whenever i got to type something, it continuously switches between the notepad window and the chatbox as the active text entry screen as it becomes your turn to move or post. While i agree it should switch to active game screen when its your turn so as to not slow game down, the software should be intelligent enough to still understand that what you are typing still belongs in the notepad and not the chatbox

2 the player points rewards they have in place is a great idea. But i tried to do some due diligence on what they were charging for the various items, and according to my findings there is quite an imbalance. Of course, given the circumstances in a BM casino you'd get no such benefits at all, but here is what i found:

for 2.5 mill points, u get $10000. since for you to get 1 full point, rake has to be $3....so roughly 30c rake from you per point (let me know if this assumption is incorrect). 2.5 million pts times $.30 = $750000

So you as an individual have provided them with $750000, and for that they offer you $10000, which comes to 1.3% back.

Does this seem appropriate, or a little too stingy? Ofcourse, keep an open mind since most other sites will offer you NOTHING but points towards their own events or tourneys, so this is a breath of fresh air.

I get less than that return on my savings account(II know don't flame me for not investing my money at a higher %, not the point I am trying to make, I said 'savings account')

Your point is correct, in a casino you pay a higher rake and usually get nothing in return, here, hopefully, the poor players are paying the rake and you some too(right?). I asume you contribute to making a game but indirectly, you are not paying the rake, the poor players are. I too thought the points are difficult to get, but most of the big ticket items are assumed you play in point tourneys where you can get a lot if you are placing in the tournaments.

Party Poker has the best "Pull" of any site. So it can be done right. They show you the screen, but if you are typing here or email, or chat, you don't get chat bleeding onto the poker site, or else just type into nothingness.

that savings account is a good comparison, except for the fact that the savings account bank doesnt make the principal amount in revenue, only the lender interest spread percentage over the savings percentage.

In stark contrast, UB or any poker site actually made that much revenue....off you!!!! all things being equal, if not for your portion of the rake, you would be $750000 richer. That is a huuuuuge chunk to overcome.

And i don't agree with the notion that the 'losing' players pay the rake......its in fact the winning players that do, because it comes out of the pots they win.

The money offered by UB is slightly higher than other sites.

Using your example of the $10,000.

On any other site that provides points, the $10,000 would almost certainly go unclaimed forever, giving a 0% return.
At least UB allow players to play for the points earned and give people a shot at reaching the targets for various decent awards. This means that they will, from time to time, actually have to part with the higher value gifts.

Also remember that the gaining of points allows you into freerolls based on points earned that cost no points to enter, and also buyin bonuses from time to time are also based on points earned, and again you get to keep the points.

I think their system is pretty good, it's not as if online rake is huge, although without all this affiliate nonsense I am sure we could make it lower.

Yeah, the UB point tourney's and SnGs are a great feature. The next step is to have UB point games... (and add unlimited SnG's). Forget about the rake, once have a BR of UB points, you can theoretically attain any goal without ever playing a money game again. Of course time is the issue (how your money win rate compares with your UB point win rate).

Gonna get that mountain bike eventually... Or maybe the Bellagio... woohoo. If nothing else, it's an extra ticket for dreaming.

first of all, a $1 rake will also get you one full point, so that number could theoretically be as high as 4%.

also, do you actually know anyone who is saving up their points for the $10k? (winners of the 2.5 million points tourneys don't count.) besides, if they are going to do that, they ought to take one of the poker tournament packages with a $12.5k street value.

really, the points thing is not too bad, since the site doesn't increase its rake to cover their promotions, like most b&m cardrooms will. i do think that stars has cheaper items in their store, but they also do not give fractional points for smaller pots.

i agree with the chat comment. ub's software has an awesome look, but it has so many of these bugs to work out. one time it got to the point where one of my tables was pushed to the front once per second. imagine the nightmare that was until i finally gave up and closed it.

hmm, so if your EV from entering a 2500 point sit and go is, say, +2500 points, you are theoretically averaging $10 per tournament when you finally win a thousand of them.

i still say real money is better than this, but at least there are no entry fees for these. i think they should have some 25 point sit and gos to let the play money players in on the action though. then again, the last thing that server needs is more players to crash it...
