I recently introduced my friend to party poker. I transferred $50 to him (which I got back when he played 50 hands) and he earned his $25 portion. Anyway, a couple of my friends and I went over his house tonight to drink a few beers and play a game of R.I.S.K. (we're such losers).

I walked in and he was on Party playing the .5/1.00 tables. I asked him how it was coming along and he said he was up almost $45 in the last 3 hours and his BR was up to around $135. I went to check his stats...

Hands Played: 142
Hands Won: 22%
Showdowns Won: 45%

Flops Seen: 97%
Win % if Flops Seen: 22%

Will he be broke by morning?

97% flops....The first thing that comes to mind is what kind of hands are the 3% he folds.

LMAO. He probably folds 72o when the pre-flop betting is capped /images/graemlins/grin.gif

A friend of mine had 89% last 100 hands 2-4 or 3-6 and he was also up.

The 3% your friend didnt see flop was probably hands where everyone folded to his preflop bet so no flop was shown /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

And yes he will be broke by morning

It doesn't matter how long this run lasts.

If he plays like this, he will go broke. No doubt.

The sample size is too small to determine with near certainty as to whether he is seeing too many flops. /images/graemlins/smile.gif I do agree if he continues this much longer he will be at the play money tables quite soon.

anyone want to figure out what the odds are of someone getting 97% playable hands if you assume he's playing the top 20%?

(yes, i'm one crappy statistics major for refusing to do this myself)

It's essentially impossible. The forumula would be:

.20^142*5!

However, my calculator (which will show # to a notation of 10^-99) just shows 0 when I type in .2^142. I'm too lazy to dig out my grapher and see if that could handle this.

It's been a long since I did probability stuff though, so my solution may be off.

I may be a nerd but my maths isn't up to much.

Assuming 97% of 142 is rounded to 138 and we're talking exactly 97% playable, then I would guess:

(0.2^138)(0.8^4) x 142.141.140.139/(4.3.2.1)

I think that's like too small to imagine.

Pardon my ignorance, but I just started playing on Party. How do you get those hand statistics you mentioned in your post? I used to play Paradise and I really valued that information, especially the percentage of flops seen. Thanks in advance for your response.

When you're sitting at a table, right click on your player and you'll see the option to show statistics.
