How do value medium suited connectors?

I struggle with medium suited connectors more than any
other cards.
Most of the time, the flush value is'nt there, they get
beat by a higher card.
Are you playing them for a straight, and are you folding
the same cards offsuit?
The straight flush is a really thin draw.

How often does your flush get beat by a higher flush with 3 flush on board(with 4 on board, I understand it is hard to win w/8 hi flush).

Ths suited connectors, I like to get in cheap with with a lot of opponents, if I hit, cool, I have people to pay me off(remember straight or flush), if not, it is a lot easier to release than say AK IMHO. Maybe some hand examples would help.
