View Full Version : Who is Andy Nelson??

I bought my first poker book 4 years ago. It was Andy Nelson's 'Poker: A Winners Guide'. A very general and simple overview of various games and strategies. Since then I've read many of the bigger titles but I see that Andy Nelson has a number of titles published. Are they all of the 'begginer' variety? What are Nelson's credentials? I'd like to know if these books are worth reading. Not many favorable reviews for them on Amazon.

Thanks!

I believe his real name is Wayne Bye and he is from Colorado. Everything that I have read from him is extremely simplistic at best and somewhat naive at worse. I don't recommend any of it but he does tell you to play very tight. His book Poker: 101 Ways to Win is extremely terrible.

"Extremely terrible" is awfully strong. I havent read the book but am almost ready to buy it just to see how bad it is. Surely it cant be as bad as Mr. X's book, can it?

It's right up there with Mr. X. "Extremely terrible" is accurate. Let us know what you think.
