View Full Version : Recommendations for 7 Card Stud Books

I am looking for suggestions for my first 7 card stud book. I have been playing low limit Hold'em(6-12 and below) for a couple of years and have read Sklansky's Hold'em book as well as Lee Jones low limit Hold'em book.

My casino 7 card stud experience is limited and I find the game much more difficult to follow than hold'em. I hope that with the right materials and experience I will be able to bring my 7 card stud play to the level of my Hold'em play.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

If you are really looking for a starter book I would recommend Roy West's book. But if you can beat 6-12 holdem then you can grasp the concepts in 7CSFAP and you should get them both.

One book that I like is Othmer's Elements of Seven Card Stud, which I happen to be rereading as we speak.I would be curious to know what others think of this book.

Good luck,

Pat

West's book "7 Card Stud: 42 Lessons; How to Win at Medium & Lower Limits" is easily the best 7stud book for 1-5 or 5-10 stud. It provides a complete and easy-to-follow strategy for beating these games.

The Advanced book by 2+2 won't be nearly as helpful at the lower limits. Once you reach the 10-20 or 15-30 limit, it's time to read 7CSFAP

That is what a lot of people think, and maybe that is true at 1-5. But I play mostly 5-10 and 10-20 and I think that the principles have value. While certain aspects may not be as strong, others wil certainly apply even at these limits. Even if you cannot directly apply certain strategies at lower limits these strategies are stil worth learning about and will improve your game, in my opinion.
