I'm thinking of trying the 9/18 game in the bay area, the rooms I had in mind are bay101, garden city and lucky chances. How are those games? Are they as insane as the 3/6 games or similar to say 3/6 online? My experience is something like 15 sessions at 3/6 live and 25k hands online at all limits 5/10 and under. Is there a room that is better than the others?

All comments appreciated.

Garden City has 8-16 with a half-kill. Bay 101 has 8-16 straight-up. Lucky Chances has 9-18. The 8-16s play like a 6-12. The 9-18 at LC is hit-or-miss.

Thanks for the info. I've never played the 6/12 at bay 101, how does that compare to the 3/6 in terms of wildness? I'm mostly wondering about the preflop play, also the 9/18 at LC, is it capped alot of times or is it more several players coming in for one or two bets?

Regarding the 6-12 at Bay 101, generally not too wild, although it can get quite wild sometimes. Preflop you'll see 5-6 people coming in for a bet, or 4-5 coming in for a raise, usually. I've seen it looser than that in the LC 9-18, and I've seen it *much* tighter than that in the LC 9-18. Like I said, that's hit or miss.

If I were you I would play a few 6-12 sessions to get used to the play before stepping up higher. The 6-12 games don't vary too much in the big cardrooms around here. But if you're in a game where only 3 people see each flop, get a table change.

You should try the 6-12 at Artichoke Joe's. Great game.
